So whats the point of jumping right now?
Sometime this week House Republicans will unveil a short list of immigration reform priorities for the coming year. That release could take place at any moment.
The big headline so far is that there will be a legalization of all illegal aliens, with a path to citizenship for those brought here as young children, Backing in G.O.P. for Legal Status for Immigrants.
The big questions are why, and why now?
The Editors of National Review have an excellent editorial, Dont Do It:
The House Republican leadership has been confronted by devilishly difficult tactical choices over the years. But what to do on the issue of immigration right now isnt one of them. The correct course is easy and eminently achievable: Do nothing .
The basic tactical reason not to act now is that the last thing the party needs is a brutal intramural fight when it has been dealt a winning hand on Obamacare. It is not as though the public is clamoring for an immigration bill. Only 3 percent cited immigration as the biggest problem facing the country in a Gallup poll earlier this month. In the key contests that will decide partisan control of the Senate, Republican candidates are much more likely to be helped than hurt by refusing to sign onto any form of amnesty.

Sort of begs the question why they should jump at all, doesn’t it?
They need only meet the chamber of commerce' demands this year.
Yep, Dems can always demand more, and they will after a deal.
I have now been converted into an activist. I shall contribute and be very vocal about making sure that the GOP is dead, dead, dead.
Shove it, GOP, up your collective smelly RINO Obamaholes.
The GOP can never be more than 2nd class imitation dems. Illegals will NEVER respect them and will continue to vote for REAL dems.

Only chance to stop the Amnesty bill is for the House not to consider any immigration related bill at all.
Six big problems with the immigration bill from someone who has actually read it
Michelle Bachmann- ANY House bill no matter if it promises all the border security in the world will be a trojan horse. NO bill at all must come out of the House because it will be merged with the Senate Amnesty and trojan horse bill. Call Congress.
Tom Tancredo echos what Michelle Bachmann said.
Former Rep. Tom Tancredo can see it coming: Even if the House passes a perfectly conservative bill to reform the nations immigration system, the Senate Gang of Eight will water it down in a conference committee and leave Republicans little choice but to get rolled and vote for a bill they dont like.
His advice to his former colleagues: Dont bring up a bill at all.
Only chance to stop the Amnesty bill is for the House not to consider any immigration related bill at all.
Michelle Bachman explained it. ANY House bill no matter if it promises all the border security in the world will be a trojan horse.NO bill at all must come out of the House because it will be merged with the Senate Amnesty and trojan horse bill. Call congress.
Tell them to stop all Amnesty or immigration bills.they are all trojan horse bills. some will promise border security that will never be enforced anyway.
Bachmann explained it . The House will write a border security bill only . then in conference the senate will add the virus and then bring it back to the house. then the conservatives wont vote for it but democrats will all vote for it so then they only need 10% of republicans to pass Amnesty and the virus that will destroy America. so any bill at all will be added the virus . so best thing is for Boner to not let any immigration bill at all come out of the House. that is the only hope . call boner and the members of the House.
Tom Tancredo echos what Michelle Bachmann said.

call congress . no bill at all from the House
“You’ll bribe me how much? HOW HIGH, SIR?”
/with apologies to one of my daddy’s old, old Marine Corps jokes
And there are several possible answers. The two that are most likely are 1) they’re stupid and 2) they know all this, and are eager for the next leap. Of those two, the latter is the most likely. The GOP and the Rats want exactly the same thing. The sooner we all realize that the GOP doesn’t agree with us, haven’t for a long time, and never will, the better off we’ll be. We can stop wasting time messing with them.
The democrats right down to the street have figured it out. All they need to do is demand and apology, denunciation, or statement from a republican and they will eventually eventually get it.
Then the liberals move on to round 2.
Republicans need to stop responding to liberal demands. It just makes them more aggressive like tossing a few scraps of meat to a pack of wolves.
Consider that the GOP and the Rats are on the same side. Then this all makes perfect sense.
Did you see that thread posted last night where Sarah Palin was praising John McCain for holding Obama’s feet to the fire?
She said he is critical to the fight.
“Republicans need to stop responding to liberal demands.”
That’s a paradoxical statement. You could just as easily written, “liberals need to stop responding to liberal demands.” We need to stop being duped by the DC GOP.
I have trouble wrapping my mind around what the GOP-e is thinking. They have the same legislative agenda as the democrats, but I can’t believe they really want what the democrats want. By following the democrat agenda, they are guaranteeing the perpetual one-party state, in which the GOP will wither away and completely disappear. This is what the democrats want. It is the goal of this legislative agenda. This is patently obvious.
So I just don’t understand why the GOP-e is willingly committing suicide. I guess I’m just dumb.
LOL. No I didn’t, but I’ve never trusted her. When she endorsed McCain, I knew she was part of the problem.
Now let me see...
The Democrats:
In favor of making between 20 and 40 million illegals, legal, and citizens in short order.
The Republicans:
In favor of making between 20 and 40 million illegals, legal, and citizens in short order. They just deny it.
The Democrats:
In favor of spending the U. S. into oblivion.
The Republicans:
In favor of spending the U. S. into oblivion, but they blame the Democrats for it.
The Democrats:
In favor of the NSA recording our every move.
The Republicans:
No problem at all...
The Democrats:
In favor of cutting our military to the bone, already almost done.
The Republicans:
Too busy praising John McCain to actually give a damn.
The Democrats:
$500 billion dollars worth of give-aways, simply not enough to fix the income inequality.
The Republicans:
Too busy reading Rove’s latest memo.
The Democrats:
It’s okay to arm al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood with shoulder fired SAMs.
The Republicans:
Our guy McCain gets the credit. Whoopeeeeee...
The Democrats:
Conservatives are a fair target if they step out of line and oppose our core plans.
The Republicans:
Too busy reaching across the isle to take a stand on this.
The Democrats:
Rule by fiat is okay. No, it’s manditory...
The Republicans:
Say what? Has anyone called Lindsey to get today’s talking points?
- - - - -
What’s the fricken point any longer?
Dems win, we lose. Republicans win, we lose.
Bye bye republic. It was great while it lasted.
I think we desperately need immigration reform.
But I don’t think my definition is the same as theirs.
