State of the Union 2014: Obama calls for ‘year of action’
Politico ^ | January 29, 2014 | Jennifer Epstein

Posted on 01/29/2014 3:12:43 AM PST by Biggirl

President Barack Obama outlined plans Tuesday to make 2014 his year of action — using his executive authorities wherever possible while encouraging Congress to go even further. Obama took on a more pragmatic tone than in previous State of the Union addresses, acknowledging that getting his agenda past House Republicans was unlikely and therefore he would use his power to do what he can on his own.

Only to point this out.

Anything he directs, which involves money or capital spending, would require funding from Congress....which he won’t get...so nothing will happen.

Anything he directs any gov’t worker to do, which violates US law, is a gimmick which is in violation of Constitutional law. So, nothing will happen.

Anything related to the handling of illegals...which violates the law....will be a violation, so it won’t happen.

Basically, he may make a thousand executive orders....but I doubt if more than six or eight will ever be carried out or be worth noting in forty years by historians.

Much ado....about nothing much.

" ... which violates US law, ..."

And just who will enforce such laws? For example, a defacto open southern boundary is a violation of present law, yes?

Regardless of the lawlessness of the Senate, it is the DUTY of the House to impeach Obama.

The DUTY.

Bush was pretty bad at “power” too. I could not believe it when Fox News said that Bush used Executive order to pass bills so I did a search to prove he didn’t and found out he was horrid. We did not know though.

"Anything he directs, which involves money or capital spending, would require funding from Congress....which he won’t get...so nothing will happen."

So you have faith in Boehner and Cantor? I think Obama will get much of what he directs with the collusion of the Republican leadership. Until the Republican caucus removes Boehner as Speaker, I will not have confidence in them. Boehner can pass almost anything with Democrat votes and a few reach across the aisle Republicans.

I have no faith in any politician from any party. I have faith in the power of logic and arithmetic. Obama has been soending money at unprecedented levels, and more money isn't there to spend. The only way to get it is print it now. If Obama raises the minimum wage for Federal contractors to $10.10, it doesn't do much good if the price of a Happy Meal rises to $10.

The power needs to be removed from the Presidency.

-——worth noting in forty years by historians.———

Nothing the man can say or pretend to do will be noted by history.

History is already written. President Obama failed to preside when his Health Care law fell apart. That is all that will be remembered. It might be said that President Barack Obama, the black President, failed to be attentive to the cascade of failures in process and exacerbated the process

looks like this writer is redefining Hugo Chavez (Mao Stalin Hitler and any despot) as a “pragmatist”

I seem to recall other governments that set a great incentive and effort under such ideas as “Five Year Plans” and “Great Leaps Forward”. These came after ‘unexpected’ results from prior efforts and were ‘new’ and ‘improved’ to really make the goals possible ‘this time!’

Anybody see any resemblance here?

What happened to the Summer of Recovery?

Reality bites and it turned, like all of the Obama Summers into "Winters of Discontent" requiring even further executive action!

I read the title as “Year of FICTION”!

Somehow, mine makes more sense. They’re just making it up.

Obama yet again begs the question: If there is a whole year’s worth of wonderful actions he could take to “help”, why did he wait 5 years to start? The whole thing is a fraud.
