Conservatives oppose Boehner on immigration
McClatchyDC ^ | 1/29/14 | Franco Ordonez

Posted on 01/29/2014 9:22:04 AM PST by jimbo123

Top House Republican leaders' ambitious plans to tackle immigration this year may already be in trouble before the House Speaker has even had a chance to unveil his ideas on how to fix problems that have long plagued the nation and, more recently, divided the GOP.

Republicans on Wednesday kick off a three-day retreat where leaders are expected, among other initiatives, to call for legal status for millions of undocumented immigrants. Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, will unveil his legislative outline that’s also likely to include strengthening border security, adding more high tech visas, and revamping the guest worker program.

But several members of the influential Republican Study Committee say a consensus is growing that bringing immigration to the floor this year is a bad idea and could seriously hurt the party in an otherwise positive looking year. There were subdued cheers on the Republican side of the gallery during the State of the Union Tuesday night when President Barack Obama called for immigration reform this year.

“It’s time,” Obama said.

Hours beforehand, members and staff of the Republican Study committee huddled on Capitol Hill. Several stood up and expressed concerns that an explosive debate on immigration could wipe out Republican political gains over Obama’s healthcare plan.

House Republicans are hiding out while they plot to ratify the invasion of the border states. Don't let them get away with it. Fax the open letter below, edited if you wish, to your Representative's attention at

Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay
Fax: +1 410 901 6302

An open letter to the GOP Members of the House

As a Representative in Congress, you took this Oath:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

"Support and defend the Constitution" it says. Did you see that? That document requires, per Art.4, S.4, that

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

An invasion is what we are suffering. That invasion has accelerated with each "comprehensive immigration reform" previously enacted. Instead of another disastrous reform that yet again increases the incentives for millions more to try their luck crossing the southern border, a Representative who took his Oath and the Constitution seriously would be pressing for what the American people have repeatedly said they want - not what Senator Schumer, Mexico, some border state farmers and homebuilders or the Chamber of Commerce rentseekers want. That is:
  1. secure the border in a transparently verifiable way;
  2. end the anchor-baby interpretation of the 14th Amendment;
  3. enforce eVerify without exception and with severe penalties;
  4. no government benefits beyond critical emergency care (and that ought to be billed back to the Mexican government); and
  5. NO "Path to Citizenship" - ever - for anyone who has entered the US illegally.
Any bill that does not accomplish these five things is unacceptable. It is de facto amnesty. And it will inevitably encouarge millions more illegal entries.

If the GOP is complicit in this amnesty fiasco, either by taking up the Senate bill or through some piecemeal slight of hand with a series of House bills such as we hear are being cooked up this week, the GOP will cease to exist. It will not survive through the 2016 elections. The people will shun the over-tanned, glad-handing, backslapping quislings and look elsewhere for leaders who actually have the spine for the fight. Make no mistake - to me and many, many others, amnesty is the GOP's Rubicon. Cross it at your electoral peril.

My favorite way to begin discussions with the pro-amnesty crowd is to start with this suggestion:

How about we start by giving a green card to every high school valedictorian in return for the deportation of every drug mule? Then we can give green cards to the next class of aliens we agree is most desirable (for instance, net taxpayers who have learned English) in return for the next least desirable class (for example, gang bangers and felons).

As the process progresses and we show real border enforcement, eventually the numbers will work down to something like the two million or so covered by the 1986 amnesty.

In general, they refuse to entertain any such discussions because they don't want to deport anybody and don't want border enforcement. They want a "comprehensive solution" in exchange for a promise they have no intentions to keep.

From what I have read here (mostly your posts jimbo) GOP house leadership is hardly designing proposals that the Dems will find tough to support,
they sound like what Dems want for the most part (not all of them get citizenship, big deal)

But like Rubio on the Senate bill, Bohner/Ryan/etc will try to portray their proposals as a tough pill for Obama to swallow and say they dare him to veto them. to try to fool us.

That is exactly the scam Rubio tried to pull.

Just about all human resource executives. Could it be the cheap foreign labor is what they lust for?

It does seem as if the alliance between constitutional conservatives and those who only care about profits is way beyond repair.

This is a screwed if we do, screwed if we don’t situation.

McCain and Grams pointing out the demographic doom of the Republican party lable and perhaps brand doesn’t help things. As usually they Naively believe Democrats stop using race bating to enslave the electorate to their whims if we give them this.

Everyone who isent a back stabling traitor like McCain and Gram knows the democrats would never sanely give up such an effective political device and it doesn’t matter what we do. So long as they have a dominating presence in what theses people see & hear Dems will make up whatever else they need to justify their fear.

What we require is a presence in the Hispanic community equal to or greater than what the Dem’s already have to campaign as them and among them for conservative family values that we Know they share. Short of that it doesn’t matter what John does in Washington.

This is the same House “leadership” that tried to get us to be Al Qaeda’ air force in Syria and start a new Middle East and perhaps world war.

The donors are businesses whose CEO’s make bonuses on short-term results. They can make money by reducing their short-term labor costs with cheap foreign labor.

It’s all about their money, the CEO’s and their GOP whores’ in Congress.

When the legalized invaders vote Rat, tax rates will go up and the rest of society will be reduced to poverty. These CEO’s and elected GOP whores don’t care. It’s all about their personal wealth.
