Grimm is from Staten Island which a pretty Republican borough compared to the others. Chances are his seat would stay in Republican hands. SI was really hammered by the hurricane and the residents aren’t too happy with Barry.

“This issue is fear of being powerless. When they are in the minority, they can’t impose their superior elite will on the rest of the country, so it’s no fun anymore...”

We are so correct about that. Back in 2010, elections the Republicans gained control of the Minnesota state senate - for the first time since the early 70’s.

A number of long-serving Democrats (who lived in safe districts) resigned in the middle of their terms and took jobs in the private sector (non-profits, etc).

They were so flummoxed and depressed that they couldn’t lord over the Republicans that they bailed out.

Absolutely, it was a total loss of power thing.

But is it safe enough for Grimm himself to carry it, or alternately, for a strong challenger to recognize Grimm’s weakness and take him out in a primary?

My parents are in an Ohio district which is safe enough, but went Dem for a term a few years back when the Republican damaged himself enough that he couldn’t carry the district though any half-competent Republican could. While the Dem beat him, it was also a safe bet that the Dem wouldn’t beat whomever challenged him the next time around.

Is it too late for someone to challenge Grimm in the GOP Primary for that Congressional Seat?

Glad he’ll be gone, though I’d rather see him beaten like an old rug during an election than to see him leave under his own steam.

I like the idea of cutting a finger off every time you get re-elected.
