CAMBRIDGE, MarylandHouse leadership began the closed-door immigration meeting Thursday by passing out their immigration "principles" just as the first news stories about what was in them were starting to pop.
But if the public rollout of the document seemed like an announcement, the feeling inside the room was much more tentative. Speaker John Boehner, in particular, surprised many in the audience with his tepid words on behalf of moving forward.
"He seemed timid or reluctant to suggest that this was anything but a discusssion," Rep. John Fleming (R-LA) told Breitbart News. "He even said, he made the statementwhich I found surprising -- that he is not commited to moving forward on any legislation. He wasn't trying to sell us on this, I don't think. He was saying the words but it didn't seem to be coming from his heart."
WIth Boehner's brief outline of the principles in handas well as a new commitment not to go to conference with the Senate "Gang of Eight" immigration bill

This is misleading!! Because the new game to get immigration into law is to basically pass the senate bill, in pieces or otherwise, through the House and then the Senate will immediately pass whatever the House passes.
THERE WILL BE NO NEED FOR A CONFERENCE!!
This is why Boehner hired Rebecca Tallent, McCain's aide to choreograph things on the House side. These people are insidious and determined!
Ah, but there is good news contained here: He is obviously afraid, and knows he is vulnerable.
.
These House leadership members endlessly teasing the MSM and Dems on this issue month after month since early LAST summer, yet no bills on House floor yet, is a curiosity in itself.
Boehner is slow playing this. Time wasting. Then they will try to ram it down our throats. Probably in the spring.
There will be one CYA vote for border security and then one tough vote with Cantor’s Dream bill and all the Chamber of Amnesty goodies rolled in to it. No way they take a bunch of tough votes. That’s all misdirection.
Obama: Id accept an immigration bill without a path to citizenship
The fix is in. We are being treated to a Kabuki dance where both sides have already come to an agreement. Now all they need to do is package it so that they can sell it to their base. The Dems will get their amnesty and no deportation of the illegals, which will make it an easy sell. The Reps will have a harder time because the only real winners are the corporations, which will get a doubling of the guest worker programs and a legalization of their illegal workers. The big losers: The American people and the American worker.
It is time to consider the formation of a Third Party or at least, a stay home this November. It matters not who controls the House or the Senate. We have one-party government with two wings.
He doesn’t actually say that at that link, Obama says ‘Im not going to prejudge what gets to my desk,” and talks about a need for citizenship.
But at this point it sounds like Dems might accept a bill without it, and just complain about it and demand it later.
Here’s the question, if Dems are backing away from citizenship then why is the House GOP amnesty types proposing citizenship?
That is twilight zone
Give Dems more than they demand.
If there are not millions of Illegal Aliens marching back across the Mexican border before the 2014 and 2016 elections...the GOP will lose big
Repubs play that new board game----"Where's The Immigration Bill" ---- really well (/snix).
Methinks Boehner---a religious man---must be praying to St Anthony the Finder.
It's coming, its coming, they just need to formulate some ‘principles’ first.
And continue to let Schumer rub their noses in their own doo-doo.
Obama says he wont prejudge any amnesty bill.
The dance continues,,
I cant help think of scammer Rubio telling us that the Senate amnesty bill was soooo tough on illegals that Obama might not even sign it if it reached his desk, formulating a vision of Obama with his head on the passed bill weeping over it.
What a scammer, that alone is a reason for me to want him nowhere near WH.
"What's holding things up, Mr Speaker?"
"Figure it out Tacoman. Amnesty is Obamacare with Spanish subtitles."
No Voter ID, No Citizenship, No Problem - Right This Way!
That is the plan. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill, the Dems point man on immigration has said exactly that:
"I don't think this is a good idea because citizenship is important, but I don't think it is a big deal breaker either," Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., a leading congressional advocate for overhauling U.S. immigration law, said in a speech last month. "Right now we have to stop the deportations that are breaking up families. And if we do not get citizenship this year, we will be back next year and the year after that."
While strong majorities of Hispanics continue to back a pathway to citizenship, a Pew Research Center poll last month found that being able to live and work in the U.S. legally without the threat of deportation was more important to Latinos by 55 percent to 35 percent.
Heres the question, if Dems are backing away from citizenship then why is the House GOP amnesty types proposing citizenship?
The only recipients of immediate citizenship will be the so-called Dreamers. Goodlatte and others say that those legalized can use normal, existing channels to get on a path to citizenship. 60% of the green cards issued annually are the result of change of status.
Give Dems more than they demand.
LOL. The Dems will be demanding a path to citizenship as soon as Obama signs the legalization (amnesty) bill. Both sides know that citizenship is inevitable. The Reps must play the game of no citizenship to fool their base.
But that still leaves my question, why (is the GOP) offering it to them if Dems don't even demand it??
The solution is simple, anyone here illegal regardless of the reason, how long, or how young they were when got here, can leave the country and get on the normal line to get citizenship.
A GOP amnesty bill could say that, state a very clear process common to all immigrants.
Otherwise it looks like yet another right.
Here is where I would say there is some strategery.
As long as everyone is talking about this, the things plaguing this country like Obamacare is under the radar. Which is a good thing because it isn’t getting any better and Repblicans can use it in November.
Meanwhile, Republicans are stringing the rats along. I mean, seriously, no one gives a rats patooty about immigration and Republicans know they are not getting any more votes from this.
Where the Republicans will get bit is when this all falls through and they blame the Conservatives.
I think you give the GOP too much credit. They are incapable of any meaningful strategy. This is an attempt to appease the Chamber of Commerce and to get in good with the DC cocktail party crowd.
It is not going to fall through.
Obama has created a backdoor amnesty for the Dreamers thru an Executive Order (DACA). Over 500,000 have been legalized to date and given work permits. The Reps are just legalizing what Obama has done thru fiat. They (GOPe) agree with what Obama did. Cantor will be introducing the GOP version of the Dream Act. Obama had a legalized Dreamer at the SOTU.
The solution is simple, anyone here illegal regardless of the reason, how long, or how young they were when got here, can leave the country and get on the normal line to get citizenship.
That's what the law already says. We can deport anyone under 21 along with their family, including children who were born here and are US citizens thru birthright citizenship. The only caveat is that they can stay if a legal guardian is identified to take care of them. They can return to the US when they reach majority.
A GOP amnesty bill could say that, state a very clear process common to all immigrants. Otherwise it looks like yet another right.
Try enforcing it. What the GOP principles do is to immediately provide probationary legal status for every illegal in the country. You essentially stop all enforcement and deportation pending a review of each individual. And that could take years. And everyone knows that once legalized, temporarily or permanently, it will not be reversed. There will be a rolling amnesty for Dreamers because we will continue to have illegal immigration. Once you establish the principle that any child brought here by an illegal alien parent can eventually apply for legalization and citizenship.
