Posted on 02/01/2014 4:01:10 AM PST by Libloather
The Obama approval ratings are apparently bad enough that theyre going with the, Hes not a liar, hes just stupid defense.
At an AEI event on the secrets of the State of the Union speech, former President Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett acknowledged that the keep your health care plan pledge didnt turn out to be as accurate as the administration planned.
Thats PR speak for, It was a complete and total lie from beginning to end. How accurate did the administration hope that a claim that had no basis in fact would be on a scale from one to minus zero?

The smartest man in the world didn’t know how it worked? Yeah.
Yes....it was impossible to understand “if you like your policy you can keep it.”
It was also impossible for this frigging speech writer to not put an explanation of why it is a lie into the teleprompter.....
Hah...simply amazing how dumb they think we are...
Yeah! That's it! That's the ticket!
“Under my plan, a whole lot of things are going to happen, but I don’t understand what they are because I didn’t write my plan and I haven’t read my plan.”
But his pants caught on FIRE! ! ! ! ! !
Is this THE Jon ("that's the ticket") Lovett?
Huh? Gimme that again? His signature legislation---years in the making---and this sap-happy "genius" had no idea how it worked? Too bad he left a paper trail a mile long----with dozens of lock-stepping Democrats publicly testifying to Obamacare's phony promises.
As far back as 2008, at the presidential debate in Nashville, Democrat candidate Obama advanced his signature healthcare plan that was ultimately enacted (by an historic straight Democrat party-line vote) into the "Affordable Care Act :
QUOTING 2008 OBAMA: "No. 1, let me just repeat, if youve got a health care plan that you like, you can keep it. All Im going to do is help you to lower the premiums on it. Youll still have choice of doctor.
Repeated over and over ---- with the promise that every American family would be saving $2500.00 on healthcare costs.
Significantly, Boobamba NEVER corrected lock-stepping Democrats, all reading from the same phony Democrat script, repeating the same false Democrat promises---over and over again.
LOCK-STEPPING PARTY LOYALTY NOT SEEN SINCE 1940's ERA EUROPE Obama And The Dumbos marching in lockstep. The persistent Dumbocrat drumbeat ---- in obeisance to Obama ---- kept ringing reassuringly in our ears: "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan."
SEN. HARRY REID (D-Nev.): In fact, one of our core principles is that if you like the health care you have, you can keep it. (Sen. Reid, Congressional Record, S.8642, 8/3/09)
SEN. RICHARD DURBIN: We believe and we stand by this if you like your current health insurance plan, you will be able to keep it, plain and simple, straightforward. (Sen. Durbin, Congressional Record, S.6401, 6/10/09)
SEN. CHUCK SCHUMER (D-NY): If you like your insurance, you keep it. (U.S. Senate, Finance Committee, Bill Mark-Up, 9/29/09)
SEN. PATTY MURRAY (D-Wash.): Again, if you like what you have, you will be able to keep it. Let me say this again: If you like what you have, when our legislation is passed and signed by the President, you will be able to keep it. (Sen. Murray, Congressional Record, S.6400, 6/10/09)
SEN. MAX BAUCUS (D-Mont.): That is why one of the central promises of health care reform has been and is: If you like what you have, you can keep it. That is critically important. If a person has a plan, and he or she likes it, he or she can keep it. (Sen. Baucus, Congressional Record, S.7676, 9/29/10)
SEN. TOM HARKIN (D-Iowa): One of the things we put in the health care bill when we designed it was the protection for consumers to keep the plan they have if they like it; thus, the term grandfathered plans. If you have a plan you like existing policies you can keep them. we said, if you like a plan, you get to keep it, and you can grandfather it in. (Sen. Harkin, Congressional Record, S.7675-6, 9/29/10)
THEN-REP. TAMMY BALDWIN (D-Wis.): Under the bill, if you like the insurance you have now, you may keep it and it will improve. (Rep. Baldwin, Press Release, 3/18/10)
SEN. MARK BEGICH (D-Alaska): If you got a doctor now, you got a medical professional you want, you get to keep that. If you have an insurance program or a health care policy you want of ideas, make sure you keep it. That you can keep who you want. (Sen. Begich, Townhall Event, 7/27/09)
SEN. MICHAEL BENNET (D-Colo.): We should begin with a basic principle: if you have coverage and you like it, you can keep it. If you have your doctor, and you like him or her, you should be able to keep them as well. We will not take that choice away from you. (Sen. Bennet, Press Release, 6/11/09)
SEN. BARBARA BOXER (D-Calif.): So we Democrats want people to be able to keep the health care they have. And the answer to that is choice of plans. And in the exchange, were going to have lots of different plans, and people will be able to keep the health care coverage they need and they want. (Sen. Boxer, Press Release, 2/8/11)
SEN. SHERROD BROWN (D-Ohio): Our Democrat bill says if you have health insurance and you like it, you can keep it (Sen. Brown, Congressional Record, S.12612, 12/7/09)
SEN. BEN CARDIN (D-Md.): For the people of Maryland, this bill will provide a rational way in which they can maintain their existing coverage (Sen. Cardin, Congressional Record, S.13798, 12/23/09)
SEN. BOB CASEY (D-Pa.): I also believe this Democrat legislation and the bill we are going to send to President Obama this fall will also have secure choices. If you like what you have, you like the plan you have, you can keep it. It is not going to change. (Sen. Casey, Congressional Record, S.8070, 7/24/09)
SEN. KAY HAGAN (D-N.C.): People who have insurance theyre happy with can keep it We need to support the private insurance industry so that people who have insurance theyre happy with can keep it while also providing a backstop option for people without access to affordable coverage. (Republicans Vent As Other Compromise Plans Get Aired, National Journals Congress Daily, 6/18/09)
SEN. MARY LANDRIEU (D-La.): If you like the insurance that you have, youll be able to keep it. (MSNBCs Hardball, 12/16/09)
SEN. PAT LEAHY (D-Vt.): [I]f you like the insurance you now have, keep the insurance you have. (CNNs Newsroom, 10/22/09)
SEN. BOB MENENDEZ (D-N.J.): If you like what you have, you get to keep it Menendez is a member of the Senate Finance Committee, which is expected to release a bill later this week. He stressed that consumers who are satisfied with their plans wont have to change. If you like what you have, you get to keep it, he said. (Health Care Plan Would Help N.J., Menendez Says, The Record, 6/19/09)
SEN. JEFF MERKLEY (D-Oreg.): [E]nsuring that those who like their insurance get to keep it The HELP Committee bill sets forward a historic Democrat plan that will, for the first time in American history, give every American access to affordable health coverage, reduce costs, and increase choice, while ensuring that those who like their insurance get to keep it. (Sen. Merkley, Press Release, 7/15/09)
SEN. BARBARA MIKULSKI (D-Md.): It means that if you like the insurance you have now, you can keep it. (Sen. Mikulski, Press Release, 12/24/09)
SEN. JAY ROCKEFELLER (D-W.Va.): I want people to know, the Presidents promise that if you like the coverage you have today you can keep it is a pledge we intend to keep. (U.S. Senate, Finance Committee, Hearing, 9/23/09)
SEN. JACK REED (D-R.I.): If you like the insurance you have, you can choose to keep it. (Sen. Reed, Town Hall Event, 6/25/09)
SEN. BERNIE SANDERS (I-Vt.): If you have coverage you like, you can keep it, says Sen. Sanders. (Sick And Wrong, Rolling Stone, 4/5/10)
SEN. JEANNE SHAHEEN (D-N.H.): if you have health coverage that you like, you get to keep it My understanding is that if you have health coverage that you like you can keep it. As I said, you may have missed my remarks at the beginning of the call, but one of the things I that I said as a requirement that I have for supporting a Democrat bill is that if you have health coverage that you like you should be able to keep that. under every scenario that Ive seen, if you have health coverage that you like, you get to keep it. (Sen. Shaheen, Health Care Questions From Across New Hampshire, Accessed 11/13/13)
SEN. DEBBIE STABENOW (D-Mich.): As someone who has a large number of large employers in my state, one of the things I appreciate about the Democrat chairmans remark is is the grandfathering provisions, the fact that the people in my state, 60 percent of whom have insurance, are going to be able to keep it. And Mr. Chairman, I appreciate that. Thats a strong commitment. Its clear in the bill I appreciate the strong commitment on your part and the president to make sure that if you have your insurance you can keep it. Thats the bottom line for me. (U.S. Senate, Finance Committee, Bill Mark-Up, 9/24/09)
SEN. JON TESTER (D-Mont.): If you like your coverage, youll be able to keep it, Tester said, adding that if Medicare changes, it will only become stronger. (Tester In Baker To Discuss Health Care, The Fallon County Times, 11/20/09)
SEN. TOM UDALL (D-N.Mex.): Some worried reform would alter their current coverage. It wont. If you like your current plan, you can keep it. (What I Learned: About Health Care Reform This Summer, By Your Lawmakers In Congress, Albuquerque Journal, 9/8/09)
It’s like one of the 3 stooges ( Curly I think) saying “I was a victim of circumstance!”
Hes not a liar, hes just stupid
Obama makes those claims and it's an unfortunate choice of words.
I'm of the opinion that the Obamacare lies are grounds for impeachment.
Valarie Jarrett lied, he was the most intelligent man she ever met who could multi task many things all at the same time
keep that list Liz...it’ll come in handy come November
Y’all are thinking of Jon Lovitz, who now runs a comedy club at Universal Citywalk in LA — although I know you’re joking.
A comedian writing Zero’s speeches does make sense, though.
While we’re impeaching the bastid, let’s “impeach” all of his dim cohorts who repeated the lie ...
We might have a winner...
They all knew. It was in the lefts to do list for years.
Well done, Liz. Exhaustive research. It’s almost like the dems have talking points memos.
THE MAN VALERIE JARRETT CALLED EXTRAORDINARY "DIDN'T UNDERSTAND" HIS OWN LAW? These lowlife Chicago con artists need professional help ASAP.
REFERENCE Obama biography, The Bridge, by David Remnick, New Yorker magazine editor.
Quoting White House senior adviser and longtime Obama friend, Valerie Jarrett: I think Barack knew that he had God-given talents that were extraordinary. He knows exactly how smart he is. ... He knows how perceptive he is. He knows what a good reader of people he is. And he knows that he has the ability the extraordinary, uncanny ability to take a thousand different perspectives, digest them and make sense out of them, and I think that he has never really been challenged intellectually. ...
So what I sensed in him was not just a restless spirit but somebody with such extraordinary talents that had to be really taxed in order for him to be happy. ...Hes been bored to death his whole life. Hes just too talented to do what ordinary people do.
(waiting for hysterical laughter to die down)
Twisted, deranged, dysfunctional---non compos mentis---all come to mind. Self-serving Obama and his minions are case studies for the analysis books. Professional Psychological Evaluations might reveal deep-seated hatreds and pathologies from being macerated in the Chicago criminal climate---particularly in a man abandoned by both parents, left in the care of grandparents, mentored by a self- admitted Pedophile.
The jokes on this regime write themselves.
No question---the lock-stepping orders came straight from the WH---to the DNC.
He should be impeached for a million different things, not least of which, is for being just plain stupid.
The list of lock-stepping Democrats kissing-up to Obama——swearing we could “keep our h/care plans” needs to go viral.
What difference does it make at this point? / sarc
Under my plan, a whole lot of things are going to
happen, but I dont understand what they are, because
I didnt write my plan, and I havent read my plan."
keep the headline with it too.....
Jon Lovett??? From Saturday Night Live?? THAT would be apropos!!
He’s the most CLEVER and EVIL and DIABOLICAL Pres. we’ve ever had. He set out to DESTROY our country and he has succeeded beyond all doubt.
"Those Democrats leering over my shoulder owe me bigtime. This
healthcare bill insures we have a permanent Democratic majority."
" All except those Tea Party types, swallowed hook, line and sinker my promises that they could:
(1) keep their existing health plans,
(2) keep their own doctors that they like,
(3) keep their 25-year-olds on the family health plan,
(4) never be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition,
(5) sign up instantly on my tech-savvy government Web site,
(6) buy insurance only after becoming seriously ill."
(7) save $2,500 in annual premiums in the bargain....
(8) All without any new taxes."
"Them sonovagun Tea Partiers will rue the day they criticized my wonderful bill."
Be careful what you wish for...
Every future GOP POTUS will be impeached for mis-speaking or being informed with bad information...
We all know Obama lied...for political reasons, there are plenty of other grounds to impeach the SOB...
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other High crimes and Misdemeanors.
lies and cover ups
Vulnerable Senate Democrats in several states are running for re-election in 2014 and away from President Obama.
Sen. Mark Pryor (D., Ark.) is facing a difficult fight against Republican challenger Rep. Tom Cotton, with Pryor saddled particularly by his support for Obamacare. The presidents health care law is deeply unpopular there, and Pryor has done his best to distance himself, pronouncing himself disappointed with Obamas State of the Union address Tuesday night.
Vulnerable Democrat, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D., La.), also said she was displeased with Obamas speech, particularly for not tackling the issue of the Keystone Pipeline.
Sen. Mark Begich (D., Ala.) said flatly he did not want Obama to campaign with him as he seeks re-election in Alaska, and Sen. Mark Udall (D., Colo.) repeatedly dodged CNN reporter Dana Bashs questions about whether hed welcome Obamas assistance on the trail.
In North Carolina, Sen. Kay Hagan (D., N.C.) was a no-show when Obama came to her state. (Excerpt) Read more at freebeacon.com ...
Obama is a dumb liar
Every POTUS has plausible deniability...for their coverups...
Lies are sort of hard to define as "Treason, Bribery, or other High crimes and Misdemeanors"
IMHO, the case can be made for Treason on several fronts...
Of course we need a Congressional House willing to defend the country from this usurper and a Senate willing to convict...
Neither will happen...even if we take over the Senate in 2016
The one good thing is whoever the House Speaker and Senate Majority Leader in 2014 will be can have a little pow-wow with the clown prince of DC and tell him to go golfing and vacay for the last two years or face impeachment...
The president sent Rice to TV shows to lie to the american public about the cause of the attack on Benghazi. Then he himself told the same lie for 13 days up to an including the UN speech.
That is a cover-up and should be one of the charges for impeachment.
The actions of the IRS is another. There is enough evidence of an inordinate amount of visits by the head of the IRS to the WH. If Obama did not know, as he always proclaims, then he should have fired everyone involved and who had knowledge.
Holder should be removed for Fast and Furious and for having policies to protect certain groups from prosecute based upon race. Start with firing the investigator of Kevin Johnson, the polling place intimidation by the panthers, and then fast and furious. He should be out on the street offering to race monger for food.
May I add the fraud he has perpetrated on the country with Obamacare. Certainly that’s a high crime.
Pure horse manure.
It’s hard to say which is worse: Liar or stupid hmm “I’ll take “Both of Them” for $200 Alex.”
Completely agree with you.... But none of those points fall under the Constitutions impeachment clause....unless you want to say lying is a “misdemeanor “
bump for later plagiarism ;-)
One big-ass bttt
Obama: Dishonest? Or Incompetent? You decide.
