Prayers for my Dad (vanity)
2-2-2014 | Self

Posted on 02/02/2014 8:16:50 PM PST by floridavoter2

I just wanted to request some prayers for my dad who is dying of cancer. He is expected to pass this week. He's in his 60s and has been fighting this for about a year. It's hard to see him in these last moments, struggling to breathe and communicate.

I also feel so bad for my mom who is working hard to make him comfortable. Fortunately, there isn't much physical pain but I kind of wish he didn't know he's dying. I want this situation to be over, yet I don't want to see him go. Not like this. Anyway, any prayers for him, his soul and my mom would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

My heart is with you. It’s terrible to see your dad die from cancer. I lost my dad in December ‘95 to lung cancer. He was in a coma for the last 3 weeks, so I couldn’t even communicate with him. I hope he realized I was there. I miss him every day. So may G-d grant you and your family the strength to see your dad off on his final journey, and to heal your hearts when he’s gone.

Prayers for your dad’s peaceful passing to the next world and for you and your family as you deal with his passing.

My dad passed at 59 in 1977. I still miss seeing him but know that I will again.

Believers don’t need secular proof that life continues after this one but even agnostic scientists are coming to understand that we do go on. There are several EXCELLENT documentaries on Netflix featuring formerly skeptical physicians who no longer doubt.

They may help you in this difficult time.

It is so very hard to lose the people you love most. Be sure and tell him how much you love him and just be there for him and your mother.

May God give your entire family peace at this sorrowful time, and may He give your father the assurance about His love for him.

The over two years was the most difficult thing my family has been through. The most peaceful moment I had felt in a long time was when he had passed away. I knew that he went to be with our Lord.

Condolences to you and your family. I can imagine how hard that was having it go on for so long. I’m glad your dad is in a better place.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Thank you everyone. I truly appreciate it. There have been many ups and downs with my dad over the years. He’s a very complicated guy to put it mildly and completely unchangeable. Too many of my memories are not good ones, to be honest. Yet, I’m not letting my feelings about past events affect this situation because none of us are perfect. He taught us kids our faith even if it wasn’t always lived out perfectly in his own life. So, for that faith I’m grateful. I just pray that his passing is peaceful and that he’ll be with God.

Thanks to all of you. God bless.
