The Obama administration announced Monday that it intends to require new cars to include technology enabling them to communicate with each other, a step that transportation planners have said could significantly reduce crashes. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx told reporters that he hopes to finish the mandate before President Barack Obama leaves office. That would allow time for DOT and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to work out issues including security and privacy.

I’ve been driving for 60 years and i find driving relieving, some times i’ll just go out and drive in trafic for no reason.

They have had this technology and systems for at least 30 years. My dad worked on the systems and I remember him talking to me about them when I was a kid. Obviously was a bit of forward thinking back then and not as sophisticated as the modern systems will be.
If these could be switched on during fog driving to prevent the idiots from stopping their cars while driving in fog I’m for it.

It’s not so much talking to the other cars but it’s the talking to NSA et al that steps over the line.
A camera will then record your license plate, and thugs with badges and a flatbed will come for you.

Yep. And they will save you from the bother of filling out a check and mailing it. They will deduct the fine directly from your bank account.
