CHICAGO Could too much sugar be deadly? The biggest study of its kind suggests the answer is yes, at least when it comes to fatal heart problems.

It took FIVE paragraphs for this story to get to the admission that the US Center for Disease Control did this study. As far as I’m concerned then, it is pure BS.
The US Government probably has some beef against powdered sugar producers, sugar importers, sugar growers or the unions or non-unions that make up the industry.
First it was eggs are bad, then they are good, then apples (alar), then not, then bacon is bad, bacon is good, salt is bad, salt is good.
Throw in their studies of wife beating disease, gun disease, and you have an organization rife with political machinations and infested with political ideologues.
Bingo! The fascist Government/MSM complex demands its protection money... or else.

The article does not specify whether this guy is a physician, but he is making the same mistake that many physicians do when conducting "research." This "study" is probably the worst and weakest kind of study possible when it comes to actual medical discoveries. It is the kind of study I call a "correlational study", since all it does is gather various data, run it through statistical analysis, and call it a result if a correlation between two factors in the study shows up. In reality, simply finding a correlation means nothing. It can identify an area for further research using stronger methodology, but that is *all* it can do.
Sugar is not the problem, because no one component of the diet is responsible for health outcome. A diet needs to be balanced between the three major nutrient types: fats, sugars, and proteins. The caloric intake must not be excessive for one's activity level and size. A person eating an overall healthy diet is not going to drop dead of heart disease because they like a donut in the morning.
Most of the sugars that give a sweet taste to foods are composed of glucose and fructose in varying ratios. Chemically, your body makes no distinction between table sugar, corn syrup, "high fructose" corn syrup, honey, or the sugars found in fruit. It all tastes sweet, and your body uses it for energy and as a starting material to make biomolecules.
I have a certain quota of crap food I will eat each week. Donuts are worthless and never included.
I wouldn’t know about the difference between Mexican or American formulations of Coke. I can’t stand carbonated drinks, and I can’t stand sugared drinks (I use Splenda). In fact, eating anything sugary causes me intense pain for a few minutes, due to surgery I had as a teen.
This is ABSOLUTE B.S.
My father had a donut EVERY Morning. He would walk to the corner, get coffee and a donut.
He would then proceed to break the donut in half and break the half in half. Our German Short hair would get 1/4 and the Cockatiel would get the other 1/4.
My father ate his half of the donut. This happened religiously 7 days a week.
My dad died at 83 in very good health until 81 years old. The German Short hair was in very good health until 2 weeks before he died at the age of 15 yrs old.
The Cockatiel lived to be 18 before she fell over and died.
Theie lives prove that donuts could infact give you a nice long life!
Yes, they want us to blindly turn the control of the world over to total “know nothing” idiots.
FAILURE!
Thanks for perspective.
I agree.
Maybe its' the ones with holes are the ones we should be eating ?
What’s worse are second hand donuts. You can die just sitting next to someone who is eating donuts. Donuts are also one of the major causes of “global warming.”
Give him a cheese steak with that.
Why harp on jelly doughnuts? Here in the midwest, every one seems bent on putting waxy, Crisco-type frosting on all of the doughnuts. That stuff is a LOT worse than the jelly filled doughnut (or Bismark, if you prefer) more available in the northeast. /yankee_snobbery
