The slam against George P. Bush and his run for the GOP Texas land commissioner nomination is that he is campaigning on his dynastic name and harbors hopes for higher office.
To which the easy responses are: It's a fine political pedigree in Texas, if not always on the national stage, and he has a record of personal accomplishments in business and the military in any case. Also, if ambition were a deal-killer, the state would have no elected officials.
And there's this: Bush, 37, offers hope for a bridge to more thoughtful, inclusive politics as the state's demographic profile changes. This is no small thing.
We recommend Bush for the Republican nomination to be Texas' next land commissioner.

I hope this Bush gets nipped in the bud. Most of the worst politicians start out in minor elected offices.

My 85 year-old mom loves him. She also watches MSNBC.
There are a lot of politicians who have positions rather than principles. He strikes me as one of those.

The reason he can’t lose is that his opponent, David L. Watts, is totally unknown. People only vote for names they recognize.
They are saying this guy should win on 2 things:
* His race
* His family name
So a white Bush is bad, but a half Hispanic one is a bridge to diversity?
Land Commissioner, eh? What’s he going to do? Give the land back to the mexicans?
