WASHINGTON [Texas] Republican Senate candidate Dwayne Stovall has garnered an endorsement from Grassroots America We the People, a statewide tea party group based in Tyler.
The endorsement buttresses Stovalls recent claims that hes the tea party favorite against Sen. John Cornyn.
As far as were concerned, [Stovall's] the only viable candidate in the race, said JoAnn Fleming, executive director of Grassroots America. We didnt even consider Steve Stockman because of his record of being less than honest with the media about his campaign finances. We also dont feel he has the temperament.
The group has expressed a marked lack of enthusiasm for the incumbent, saying Cornyn does not fight for true conservative values

I would like to understand why are conservatives making an effort and spending money trying to replace a conservative Senator, John Cornyn, ranked as the 2nd most conservative Senator, instead of focusing on DEFEATING DEMOCRATS?!
Not to mention that if some unknown wins the Republican nomination, he may well be defeated by the Democrat candidate, so conservatives are effectively helping a Dem be elected to the Senate to replace the 2nd most conservative Senator who is already there.
How does this fit with the conservative agenda?
Do you want to start an organization: “Conservatives for Dem control of the government forever”?

“So, at this point I plan on voting for Stovall. BUT, the last thing we want to do is allow some ComDem Btard to win the General Election.”
You can’t have it both ways. If Stovall wins the primary, or if it turns into a Republican runoff, that gives significant advantage to the Dems to defeat the R candidate.
Yes, I know.
But in this case, nothing ventured, more of the same. The same is unacceptable. Even from the Republicans.
“The same is unacceptable.”
OK, so you are saying that you want to get rid of a reliably conservative Republican, to elect a Democrat, to have a “change” — “hope and change” — where have we heard that before?
If Republicans don’t start being pragmatic and realistic we’ll have USSA (United Socialist States of America) shortly. The election of Obama should be a clue...
Republicans stayed home because Romney wasn’t good enough.
Absolutely!
I agree and endorse Mr. Stovall as well.
People in TX just don’t recognize any of these names but Cornball, and they know nothing of his record.
Jeepers,
I looked at several youtube addresses by Stovall this morning and I am convinced he is THE guy to fight the good fight. Can’t wait for March 4th and my opportunity to cast my first Texas Primary vote since leaving KC for SouthTex and Oso Bay.
There is NO effin way that any Dem will defeat a Republican in Texas in this environment of national despair. Texas voters, especially men, are looking for leaders with brass in their drawers not acorns and Cornyn lacks both. Not to worry.
Cant wait for March 4th
***********
Heck you cast your vote in person beginning next Tuesday, Feb. 18 thru Feb. 28.
You don’t have to wait for primary day. The locations should announced or
call you local Registrar of Voters for info.
If Cornyn gets less than 50% of the vote, will a runoff take place with the second place candidate?
They have no recommendations nor endorsements in the Senate race (John Cornyn) incumbent or district 8 (Kevin Brady) incumbent.
They claim to support the strongest conservative candidates with a serious prospect of winning.
The mailing recommends and or endorses every other race...except that congressional 8th and Senate. Thought that to be kinda odd.
Kevin Brady must go. John Cornyn has gotta go.
I can understand if all TEA Party organizations are not on the same page- It’s actually what I expect. The Montgomery Tea Party is saying this-
National
2014 U.S. Senate Race - MCTP Recommends Dwayne Stovall
2014 U.S. House District 8 Race - MCTP Endorses Craig McMichael
Notice one is a recommend and Dist 8 is an Endorse, which is a stronger approval.
True, true. But if somebody unexpectedly dies prior to the 4th then my vote has already been cast and I can’t take it back regardless if it was for Stovall or someone else.
The reason you are unsure about runoffs is that they are only held in the tier of states from TX to SC plus OK and AR. If no one gets 50 percent plus one vote, an outright majority, the top two votegetters meet in a second round of balloting, called a runoff. If one of the two runoff candidates withdraws, the remaining candidate is declared the winner. NC also has a runoff if no one gets 40 percent in the first round.
I checked the secretary of state’s early voting numbers, and they look bleak for Democrats, but I don’t know if they are promising for conservatives. Apparently, Stockman’s home area has a large early vote.
