The Summary Version is: IOWA Police execute a search warrant based on suspected credit card fraud – However, they smashed down the door in a “no-knock” raid replete with full battle armor. Then the police tried to destroy the CCTV system which was recording their behavior.
When questioned about the ridiculously excessive “use of force” things get worse because the police justify the execution of the warrant, the extreme measures invoked, based around the principle the occupant was a legally registered gun owner and therefore represented a more significant risk to them. <—- Think about that.
Personally I have come to the difficult determination that the police are now a danger to us. We have as much likelihood to be victimized by paid law enforcement as we do criminals. It has taken me several years to accept this ‘new-normal’ reality with police militarization; however, there is simply too much empirical evidence to dismiss the obvious. This story is only atypical in that the owner had CCTV systems to document the reality.

Answer: No. Those who called cops `pigs’ hated the police for trying to maintain public order during the antiwar riots, hippie manifestations & public use of illegal drugs. The police in 1969 were simply part of the existing social order that the crazies were trying to destroy & the majority of citizens sided with the police.
FWIW, I was 21 in 1969 and I hated what the `youth revolt’ was doing to our country. Footage of `the days of rage’ where violent demonstrators were getting what for from the cops is heartwarming to watch to this very day. The left wing rioters were my enemy then & they remain so today.
The hippies were wrong and there’s no connection from that time to the present. Evaluation of police conduct in the current age needs to be for its own sake and free of any historical comparisons.
DHS has steadily been giving out this equipment for years and expects it’s ‘donations’ to justified by seeing the local departments using it in the field.
This means police departments that have it are going to use it.
Then DHS can say, ‘See? The fact that it’s being used is proof that it was needed.’
There are certain people that are pleased to see this becoming the norm.
You can’t give a monkey a hammer and expect it to not start using it for everything under the sun.
Usually, homeowner policies have exclusions for damage due to acts of war. I don't know if this qualifies as such.
On a psychological level, these sorts of SWAT raids are doing double damage. They make people feel apprehensive and unsafe in their own homes.They also promote the idea that the State, and not the people, have the power. These are traits of a police state.

I think there were abuses back then as well. If you were a member of a group that the police did not believe deserved respect, then some police would take advantage of that and treat them badly without fear of reprisal. I saw some things when I was an officer that were borderline abusive. There was often an attitude of Us vs Them. I think that attitude has gotten worse.
Part of what we are seeing now is that the ubiquity of cameras and recording devices mean that the police cannot get away with what they used to.
In addition, the war on drugs and the forfeiture laws have given the police more tools and incentive to go after more people.
My take is that things are in the process of getting better; that the cameras and the ruling that recording police in their public duties is a first amendment right, are forcing the police to act better.
It just seems that things are getting worse because we are seeing more than we used to.
An exception is the use of these “no knock raids”. They need to be dialed back to nearly nothing. I think that will happen, but it will take public pressure.

So, is he or is he not a ‘prohibited person’ under the law?
Can such a person own or have access to weapons, or run a day care facility under Iowa law?
Credit Card Fraud (identity theft?) is a real crime, and bad guys are no more eager to go to jail for that than they are for bank robbery or murder. You never can tell what someone will do under those circumstances.
I will concede the points about covering the cameras.
At least this time they had the right address.

We already live in a police state. Denying the obvious won’t help.
To the cops:
Every house is a crack house
Every dog is a vicious pit bull
Every person with a warrant is on the 10 most wanted list
Every gun is an assault weapon
Every potential injury is life threatening
Every interaction with a citizen is potentially life threatening
Elect a pro-2nd amendment, constitutional sheriff in your county, and this won’t happen. My sheriff investigated two thug police chiefs who were harassing vets and ran them out of town. You, too, can enjoy the protection of an armed sheriff and deputies by getting off your fat butts and running a constitutional sheriff in your county.
Cops are not your friends.
Maybe Allstate should make one of those "mayhem" commercials about this.

What difference does that make? He wasn't arrested for possession of a firearm and they didn't have a warrant on him for it. I have read several articles on this story and haven't seen that Adair was running a day care center, please provide a link.
Were the cameras internal or external? In this litigious world we live in, if I was running a day care, I'd have security cameras. All you need is one parent saying you did something to their child. People have gone to jail just for the allegations.
"The cops arrested two of the residents. It was a day care center. Two of the residents had outstanding warrants and had been convicted of several crimes. The cops knew that guns were in the house."
Did either of the two arrested actually run the day care center? Did either of the two arrested have a firearm?
