Duke University: 44% of U.S. firms consider cutting health care to current workers
Washington Examiner ^ | FEBRUARY 5, 2014 | Paul Bedard

Adding to a devastating CBO report of how Obamacare could damage the economy, a Duke University survey of top companies found that 44 percent are considering reducing health benefits to current employees due to Obamacare, confirming the fears of millions of American workers.

In its December survey of chief financial officers around the country, Duke also found that nearly half are “reluctant to hire full-time employers because of the Affordable Care Act.”

And 40 percent are considering shifting to part-time workers and others will hire fewer workers of fire some to avoid the costs of the program.

What’s more, they said in the study, “One in five firms indicates they are likely to hire fewer employees, and another one in 10 may lay off current employees in response to the law.”

Without the law, the CFOs told Duke that they would hire more full-time workers.

Ask any Obamabot. This means nothing. There is no empirical evidence that anything bad is occurring.

And it’s not like Duke University is a bastion of conservatives.

confirming the fears of millions of American workers.

...and sadly, once again validating early claims from Tea Party members and other racist, right-wing "extremists."

I work in a major nyc law firm and hires over the last 6-8 months have been given the health plan information sheet and the HR people invariably tell them at the time “these will be changing.”

No more details. Waiting to see what happens.

Lincoln, The Great Emancipator, liberated the slaves.

Obama, The Great Prevaricator, is liberating working people from reliance on greedy employers for healthcare or income.

When his work is complete people will be free of the oppression of having to work for sustinance and healthcare.
Most people will just look to the Federal Government for everything they need.

Except for the Tea Party, white veterans and Bill O'Reilly.

What you and I see however, is that the Welfare State under Commie Obama’s watch is expanding exponentially.

Lemme see now - - - - ?

IF Welfare undergoes “fusion” with Obamacare, THEN does Obamacare become the ultimate Middle Class Entitlement called OBAMAFARE?

” Washington’s official non-partisan bean-counter, the Congressional Budget Office, dropped a bomb. By 2024, says the CBO, Obamacare will reduce the size of the U.S. labor force by 2.5 million full-time-equivalent workers.”

“Adding to a devastating CBO report of how Obamacare could damage the economy, a Duke University survey of top companies found that 44 percent are considering reducing health benefits to current employees due to Obamacare, confirming the fears of millions of American workers.

This may be happening in N Californicator land since the first of the year.

My wife and I are both retired citizens. One of the things we do is to try to avoid traffic jams and crowds, when we go out for lunch and to do our errands.

So, when we go out to lunch it is usually after the so called lunch hour, 12:45 pm to 1 pm.

Since the first of the year, we have noticed two interesting trends:

1. Even less people than normal in the good restaurants and better so called fast food places for lunch. Problems, finding a parking place rarely occur now.

2. There is a what appears to be a mini rush hour re heavier traffic from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm, like we used to have after 3:30 pm and then @ 5:30 pm plus or minus a half hour. The drivers don’t appear to be going shopping or after school kids. Usually just a driver and no passengers, lining up at the traffic lights. Also, more than usual construction pickups during this time period are in the traffic mix.

My wife knows many friends and others, who have had their work day hours cut to 4 to 6 hours per day. Walmart, other chains, and independent stores are cutting the daily hours for their employees since the first of the year.

A younger relative couple living in an East Bay county are seeing similar traffic patterns re a new mini rush hours. The husband is getting home about 15 to 25 minutes early. He said the end of the work day traffic is a lot lighter, and the going to work traffic is about the same. The wife usually does her shopping and errands from 2 to 3:30 pm before picking up their kids at school. She said that the traffic loads during that time are similar to past years’s after 3:30 pm.

On 2/5/14, my wife and I saw the same weird traffic pattern, a mini rush hour from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.

Then, at 5:30 pm we took a dinner to a church couple, one of them is recovering from a hospital stay.

The traffic should have been very heavy at that time, and it was about the same or less than the earlier 1:30 to 2:30 pm.

Fifteen minutes later, it was even lighter, when we came home

Facts don’t matter.
Nothing short of a full repeal will suffice.

“Facts don’t matter.
Nothing short of a full repeal will suffice.”

If the implementation by business had not been arbitrarily and illegally delayed until after the 2014 elections, the country would be in an uproar at this moment and a smart opposition party would be using the issue to win on multiple others in Congress.

The pain will not hit until next year. If the uproar occurs after the election the Dems will hang tough through the storm in 2015 knowing it won’t be an issue in 2016. As long as the Dems do not lose enough Senate seats to have a filibuster proof Senate, Obamacare is here to stay.

With respect to the Senate, even if the Republicans have a one or two seat majority I don’t see them employing the nuclear option to end filibusters by the Dems. Reid will scream about the traditions of the Senate, which he himself violated, and the RINO Republicans will cave in the spirit of creating a bipartisan tone.

Had implementation by business not been delayed the Republicans would be able to vote to end Obamacare today and probably get over 50% of the Democrat House members to vote in favor. Reid would have to refuse to bring the bill to the floor or at least 8 to 10 vulnerable Democrat Senators would vote to end it. Obama would then be faced with vetoing the bill in the face of a public loudly demanding its repeal. In that event his presidency would be toast.

Obama saved Obamacare and his presidency by delaying business implementation. If the GOP was a smart party they would have countered by immediately appareling his unlawful action to the Supreme Court or voting article of impeachment to force him to implement his law. The fact they did nothing indicates they are complicit with imperial rule by decree.

Are you a lawyer? I’m not.
It’s my understanding that Congress cannot on its own, bring the matter to court, that it does not have “standing.”

I’d wager that number is too low. Every one of them has likely considered it and most will follw the first domino to fall....

Let’s be more plain and direct. Obamcare is actually a confiscation of our physical being by the federal government. So, the first black President re-instuted the slavery that was abolished by Lincoln.

Not only Obamacare.

Those with no real marketable abilities, those too lazy to work, those with no "living" skills (no idea how to provide for their own needs), those who rely on the Feral Government for Housing, transportation, food, healthcare and their other needs are the chattel of the government and by extension the democrat party.

And there are already many, many millions who fall into that category.

They are warehoused on the government/democrat party plantations, fed and watered like sheep, until it is time to shear them for their votes on election day.

That is how Obama got elected and why it will be an uphill struggle for any republican to get elected president until the country returns to sanity.

The odds are that it will collapse before politicians are forced to abandon their "Moocher State" mentality.

I agree that those that have traded their freedom for a meager existence have also been enslaved, however that is a voluntary enslavement. They were still free, if they wanted, to walk away from their self imposed slavery.

That is much different than the federal government demanding that you eat arugula (or what not,) that you exercise, that you are not allowed to take part in some activity (gun ownership,) or that you are not allowed to consume some product.....

Plus, they mandate that you purchase your own enslavement from another private entity.

Then, after a lifetime of taking our masters abuse, we will still get denied medical treatment when we have lived beyond our usefulness.....

We have been enslaved, with no options left......well....

And the other half aren't going to put that information in writing

True.

They all have the option to abandon the government teat for freedom but very few have the backbone.

Plus they are heralded as the heros of our society, while the innovative and productive are demonized. We are in an upside down society.

Register correctly comrade.
