Thad Cochran Showing Early Signs of Desperation (could have retired!)

With less than four months until the primary election for US Senate in Mississippi, the political season is now in full swing. And like clockwork, the long-anticipated attacks against Senator Chris McDaniel by allies of the Thad Cochran camp have begun in earnest, and sadly, in dishonestly, if not downright hilarity.

Finding themselves in what must be an increasingly desperate situation, Senator Cochran and his well-funded surrogates and friends have initiated a campaign of low blows. This operation of deceit is nothing more than the establishment of the Republican Party, both on the national and state level, rallying around a weakened leader in a desperate attempt to make him look good by tearing down his opponent.

To carry out their campaign of trickery, they have formed a new Super PAC, which has the backing of Haley Barbour, and is deceptively named Mississippi Conservatives. But don’t be fooled, there’s nothing conservative about it. In a recently released negative television ad, Senator McDaniel’s record in the state senate, as well as his reputation, is falsified, twisted, and distorted, to use the most family-oriented language possible, for to truly evaluate its worth would require much harsher, un-Christian words.

The ad itself, entitled “Who is Chris McDaniel? Whoever he needs to be,” attempts to paint Senator McDaniel as a flip-flopper and is based on three issues: tort reform, federal involvement in public education, and deficit spending. Three issues, mind you, in which Senator Cochran has zero credibility for any reform efforts, unlike Senator McDaniel.

Paine, are you a resident of MS? I’m just curious what the pulse of the people on the street in MS might be. Any idea? What are you hearing when people talk about this election?

>> Should we throw in Arlen Specter and Charlie Crist for good measure? <<

No comment about Specter, because I believe one should never speak ill of the dead.

As for Crist, I think he’s now politically dead. I can’t believe the good people of Florida will be so quixotic as to give him another chance.

But, the “uninformed” voters just vote in the General Election; not the Primary. BTW, Theodore: Your tagline is a little ambiguous. Are you supporting John Cornhole and George P. in the Texas Primary on March 4th.?

Our TEA Party is fired up! In fact, I'm going to a special meeting on Thursday evening just for the purpose of organizing rallies and door-to-door, get out the vote for Chris McDaniel in our June primary.

We have THAD enough.

I hope Thad, Lamar, John, Lindsey, and a few others are really worried. I hope by this time next year they have been replaced by a Tea Party Member.

I've only lived in this state for going on 9 years now, but at least Mississippi voters elect Republicans, unlike those "oh so damn smart" voters up North and out on the West Coast, where conservatives are out numbered.

Damned straight onyx. Gallup says we are the fourth most conservative state in the nation and sit right next door to Alabama, THE MOST conservative state in the nation!

Interestingly, Mississippi and Alabama have some of the highest percentages of blacks in the nation. That stat drives liberals crazy. It defies their 'logic'...LMAO!

As a fellow Texan (born and raised in Pasadena, been in Mississippi 12 years), I would think you would know better Theodore R. BTW, unfortunately, Texas did not even make Gallup's Top 10 list. Now what was that again that you were saying about Mississippi?

Thad Cochran himself claims to be an experienced appropriator. Thad’s claim to fame is that he’s great at spending other peoples money. If that doesn’t scare you, nothing will.

From your lips to God's ear, to voting ballots across the nation in primaries! For starter's. And then onto victory in November!!!

GO TEA PARTY!

>> cochran voted twice to fully fund planned parenthood... the largest abortion mill... so he is not pro life... he just lies about it. <<

You’re probably correct, although I don’t know when the votes occurred. Anyway, as I’ve already said, his record isn’t 100% either on pro-life or pro-gun issues, but the record is still strong.

To be specific, Cochran has received a 100% rating from the National Right to Life Committee almost always, going back many years. And he gets a zero rating from NARAL in most years. His record on gun issues is similar, but maybe a little weaker.

Click here to see his ratings from various pro-life and pro-abortion groups:

http://votesmart.org/candidate/evaluations/53312/thad-cochran#.UvpPavurGPY

Then scroll down near the bottom of the listing to see his ratings from various gun-issue groups.

Bottom line:

Cochran’s record on social issues is not 100% perfect, but it’s probably good enough to satisfy those Mississippi voters (probably the majority) who attach a much greater importance to the social issues than to the Congressional corruption that’s involved in pork-barrel spending.

It definitely should scare folks in the other 49 states. But most voters in MS probably welcome those billions in free federal money that Cochran has sent them over the last 30 years, especially after Katrina.
