Boehner and Cantor Declare No Debt Ceiling Increase Without Obamacare Delay and Keystone Approval

With the President delaying, again, parts of Obamacare, House Republican Leader Eric Cantor and Speaker John Boehner have declared they will not raise the debt ceiling unless the President does two things: (1) delay Obamacare by a year and (2) approve the Keystone XL Pipeline.

In fact, Congressman Paul Ryan is standing shoulder to shoulder with them, telling Robert Costa, “Shutting down the government puts us on the wrong side. The fight is on the debt limit”. Further, the GOP won’t even bother fighting on a continuing resolution because they feel so strongly the debt ceiling is the path forward for a fight on Obamacare and the Keystone XL pipeline.

Senator John Cornyn has even gone so far as to say the GOP might need to shut down the government to force Barack Obama’s hand in debt ceiling negotiations. There’s just one major caveat to their plan.

But first, back to the House of Representatives. As Jonathan Strong notes in his article,

In exchange for a debt-ceiling increase, Cantor told colleagues, the GOP will issue a litany of demands, including a one-year delay of Obamacare, construction of the Keystone pipeline, an anti-regulatory bill called the REINS Act, and other spending reforms. The exact combination will be negotiated with President Obama and Reid.

According to Congressman Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina, who was in the meeting with Eric Cantor and John Boehner, “I liked everything I heard.”

Congressman Jim Jordan, asked if he liked the GOP strategy to fight on the debt ceiling, responded to National Review with “Heck yeah!”

Oh . . . what? What’s that you say? Oh. Sorry.

That was back last year. That was all back when the GOP did not want to fight on the continuing resolution. Sorry folks, my bad. The GOP in January of 2013 and again in September of 2013 said they were going to fight Obama using the debt ceiling, not the continuing resolution.

But now they want to fight on the continuing resolution, not the debt ceiling. Yes, in 2013, the GOP said they’d fight on the debt ceiling and not the continuing resolution. Here now in 2014, John Boehner and Eric Cantor are signaling they’ll pass a clean debt ceiling and not ask for anything at all — they’ll fight on the continuing resolution.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sigh.

How many times are they going to yank the football away from themselves before Republican voters kick them to the curb?

WOW. You’ve now heard from the head of this USELESS RINO REPUBLICAN PARTY. This is why the once proud REPUBLICAN PARTY has turned into a bowl of tasteless pudding. This is the very reason of the upsurge of the TEA PARTY. These “LEADERS” have attacked their base more than they’ve attacked the democratic party. It’s high time that the truly republican base, get rid of all these PUSSYFIED REPUBLICAN “LEADERS”, and elect politicians that are “JUNK YARD” dogs, that will fight these liberals, socialists and communists politicians that have destroyed this country.

Whenever the rare opportunity to reduce the size of the Spendaholic Federal Government approaches a decision point, the unchallenged and therefore invincible Obamanation Congressional Format unfolds flawlessly as follows:

* Permissive, weak and cowardly Speaker “Doormat” Boehner proclaims that THIS time he will protect and defend the US Constitution;
* “Assistant Doormat” Cantor will nod like the bobble head lap dog that he is;
* Cave-In, Con-Artist Ryan will make a side deal with his Pelosi Pals;
* “Rubberstamp” Reid will then approve whatever the Pelosi Pals have shamed Ryan into ramming through the House;
* Lazy, Anti-Work Obama will say “That was EASY!”
* The Left Stream Media will gently boo Boehner, while mildly applauding his “Bipartisan” Leadership;
* “Doormat” Boehner will then slink off sobbing, relieved that he dodged another major tongue-lashing from the Left Stream Media;
* Karl Rowe will go on FOX and say “The Moderate House Republicans are showing that they are willing to work with Obama;”
* Krauthammer will go on Fox and say “Unbelievable;”
* The Conservative voters will say:
*** “Yup, permissive RINOs are no match for the Commies, Socialists and Democrats in Congress.
***We are doomed to feel sorry for ourselves, again.
*** What shall we do?
***Sigh.”

BTW, Boehner, Cantor and Ryan are all heavily favored to win re-election to their well-worn House seats in 2014 - - - - .

No debt ceiling increase unless all facets of the PPACA are implimented exactly as stipulated in the law as passed and signed. No date changes, no exemption, no exception, post dated back to all the original dates.

“A perfect illustration, a walk through history, showing how inept and feckless the GOP “leadership” is.”

You’re right. It’s easy to forget about what happened just a year ago. That’s what these establishment guys have counted on for decades—that we’d forget how they cooperated in promoting ever bigger government.

Erickson is good about tracking this treachery, reminding us, and rubbing it back in the establishment pols faces.

I agree. It would be laughable to watch Boehner and McConnell parade out to give their lying, pathetic “we’re going to fight tooth and nail next time” speeches if they weren’t lending a hand to the demise of the republic.

These guys have to go and have to be replaced by real leaders capable of taking the fight to the bolsheviks.

Boehner Drops Conditions on Raising Debt Limit
Tuesday, February 11, 2014 06:23 AM

By: Elliot Jager

The House will vote tomorrow on raising the U.S. debt limit without conditions, Speaker John Boehner said today, ignoring factions of his party that called for tying the measure to defunding of Obamacare and including benefits for military retirees.

Boehner, an Ohio Republican, said Democrats will need to back the measure, which will get minimal Republican support.

Your post is spot on gingerbread except that there is no such thing as "the democratic party".

I detest the use of that good word to describe liberal Democrats and/or the Democrat Party.
