Reid calls on Senate Republicans to reject 'Tea Party overlords'

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Wednesday said he hoped enough Republicans would reject their "Tea Party overlords" to advance a bill to raise the debt ceiling.

The Nevada Democrat announced Wednesday the Senate would vote to end debate on the bill around 1:45 p.m.

If cloture is invoked, the Senate will then move immediately to final passage of a bill that the House passed Tuesday to raise the debt ceiling until March 2015, with no strings attached.

The bill raises the debt ceiling until March 15, 2015, which would allow the government to continue borrowing above the current $17.2 trillion cap. After the suspension ends, the new debt ceiling would equal the amount of debt the government has racked up by then. Many Republicans were disappointed Congress didn’t force the administration to agree to spending reductions before raising the debt ceiling, which will prevent a government default. That is why Senate Republicans are forcing a cloture vote, meaning Democrats will need 60-vote to advance the measure.

Some Republicans are expected to help Democrats get it past the 60-vote threshold.

Reid moved a vote on repealing cuts to military pensions until after the Senate deals with the debt ceiling. That vote is still expected later Wednesday.

Overlords?

LOL

If we were ‘overlords’, many of those congresscritters would not be voting like they are. They wouldn’t be pushing amnesty and they would be pushing tax cuts, spending cuts, etc.

==

Now, after the 2014 elections, things might be moving toward the Tea Party becoming overlords.

Harry I can assure you you would wet your pants if you ever came into contact with “real Americans.”

We are nothing like you.

So call us whatever you want, but in the end when we stand before God...you will not enjoy what happens to your soul — Heaven does not wait for liars, cheats, and thieves...you are all three.

Cloture vote still open. Cornyn still doesn’t have enough GOP votes for Reid.

My hope is for another 700 legislative seats. Then we can reign in the federal government with an amendment convention.

I’m surprised he doesn’t just invoke a permanent nuclear option to all legislation to stop those pesky Tea Party overlords.

That’s interesting. Sounds like Grahamnesty and Ayotte got their panties in a bunch over Reid’s latest TP rant. I guess he didn’t get the memo from Pelosi not to gloat.

They are scared sh!tless of November.

Incumbent Republicans can't even see November, they're too worried about their primaries in the coming weeks.

This cloture vote is proof. Graham, Alexander, McConnell, and Cornyn would vote for cloture, if they weren't being contested in the primaries.

I called John David Wells' show a couple of nights ago, when he had a segment on "Vote for the old, or vote for the new?" I said I hadn't made up my mind, but I knew I wasn't going to vote for the Terra Cotta Senator, John Cornyn. Cornyn's been about as useful "standing up to Obama" as those terra cotta soldiers were protecting the grave of an ancient Chinese emperor.

Actually Harry just foresees the feudal system that will arise from the ashes after his Democrats finish the job of transforming America...fundamentally.

Oh...and who will be running it.
