There is a lot of attention being focused on primary challenges to sitting Republican Senators this election cycle. Before the races started heating up, many conservatives across the country were most looking forward to unseating South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham. And yet, almost no national attention has been given to the race. This should change, as all polling shows Graham vulnerable to falling beneath the 50% runoff threshold.
While Lindsey Graham isn’t part of the McConnell-Cornyn leadership (from behind) team, he does more than his part to neuter conservative, small-government efforts. Consider the following:
1-Graham, with the possible exception of John McCain, is the number one GOP amnesty cheerleader.
2-Graham, again with the possible exception of John McCain, is the most infamous anti-civil liberties member of the Senate. Whether it is indefinite detention, drones, warrant-less wiretapping, metadata spying, restricting journalism, or airline pat downs, Graham is firmly on the side of the police state.
3-Graham supports a reckless and costly foreign policy in which every intervention is a good intervention. This includes arming and funding enemies of America and ceding sovereignty to the United Nations.
4-Graham is a fiscal squish who supports raising taxes, including the internet sales tax, has supported “cap and trade”, has suggested nationalizing banks, voted for TARP and No Child Left Behind, and votes for debt ceiling increases but against conservative budgets.
5-Graham is not a strong defender of the 2nd amendment and believes it is up for debate.
6-Graham consistently approves of Obama’s radical and unqualified judicial and cabinet nominees.
7-Graham sticks out like a sore thumb among a state delegation that includes Trey Gowdy, Mark Sanford, Joe Wilson, Mick Mulvaney, Jeff Duncan, and Tim Scott.
