photo 208thOverviewMapNormandytoDeutchland_zps2b57048c.jpg Before going home, each member of the 208th ECB was given around 6 sheets of history done in cartoon fashion as well as a list of all members and their home addresses. Each of the images represent something but the only one which I know about is that of a Messerschmidt strafing the Engineers while they were working in a stone quarry. One of their sergeants shot it down with a BAR. Maybe a one in a million shot but he did it.

You didn't get any ice? I was listening to my AM radio host this morning who was talking about his daughter in Georgia.

He said she sent him a text that said they had no power, no food & no sense of humor left!

So happy to know you you were spared!

The ice-and-snow line stopped about 40 miles north of me. Just rain here.

ROCKUMENTARY: FEBRUARY 15, 1962

Where were you? I was a freshman at a third-rate Catholic prep school in New Jersey that had pretensions to being first-rate.

So what were you up to?

Cue the Rockumentary theme!

San Remo Golden Strings: “Festival Time”

This band was simply Motown’s Funk Brothers backed with pickup musicians from the Detroit Symphony. Classical musicians enjoy gigs like this because they pay well, and the stress tends to be low.

#10 – Gary U. S. Bonds: “Dear Lady Twist”

Hank Ballard had introduced the Twist in 1960, and it had caught on to some extent in the college scene. But it took two years to make its way into the high school scene, and then it became a major craze. There were Twist songs everywhere. This sounds like proto-reggae.

#9 – The Everly Brothers: “Crying in the Rain”

Carole King’s usual writing partner was her husband, Gerry Goffin. This time she teamed with Howard Greenfield, who was usually Neil Sedaka’s writing partner. When a Brill Building team crossed over to Country, it always rang the cash register.
