For want of an "L," a reputation was lost, a former judge claims.
Richard W. Postma Jr., a former state judge in Alaska, has filed a federal lawsuit against attorneys for the Alaska Bar Association over "hazing" he says he endured after former Gov. Sarah Palin's appointment letter thanked him for his "pubic service."
Postma, who was appointed to the bench in 2007, claimed the typographical error that turned "public" into "pubic" led to suggestions that he got the appointment by performing oral sex on the former governor. He filed the suit Feb. 11 in U.S. District Court in Anchorage, with an amended complaint filed the next day.

There used to be a hair salon in an small mall near where I grew up. It’s name, I kid you not, was Jeannie’s Public Hair.
I don't get it, it is not like the letter came from Mr. Palin.
Gotta get started on the “Discredit Sarah” campaign early, so she won’t get in Hillary’s way. Let’s see what other idiocy the news manufacturers come up with before the elections.
Spell czech is knot yore friend!
True Story; I worked for a conservative congressman in the mid-1970s as a researcher/writer. One day I went downstairs to see how the robotype machine worked when sending out bulk mailings to constituents.
The letter being processed concerned “public campaign financing”. However, they didn’t proofread it closely enough as it came out as “pubic campaign financing”.
The staff was horrified for two reasons:
* They were all women
* Several hundred had already gone out to the top Republican women in Florida.
I became “hero for a day” because I caught the typo.
And laughed all the way back to my office. I still have an original copy of that letter somewhere in the house.
LOL, this lawsuit is HILARIOUS. What a wuss of a judge to think some random typo could do all this to his life - wonder if it ever occured to him that maybe he lost his career was because he just sucked at it?
I was assistant to the Public Works Director for many years. Trust me; it’s easy for anyone to make that particular typo when the word is being typed hundreds of times. What are the odds of not making a mistake every now and then?
When I first opened my CPA firm on the main street in town, I hired a sign painter to paint a nice sign, both sides, hand painted letters three inches high, shaded in beautiful text. Had my first name, middle initial and last name on the first line. The second line had Certified Public Accountant, except that the female sign painter left the “L” out of public on both sides of the sign! True story...
Several years later the local newspaper did the same thing in one of my ads. I never said a word and no one noticed.
One year in our local yellow pages the local bowling ally had 66 lanes open to the pubic. It ended up making it to one of the late-night comedy shows.
Your picture “idiots!!!!” is posted on Google Images with the search of the Judge’s name.
