“So, .22 caliber will kill you.”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Yes, it will, for certain. Actually some studies of statistics seem to indicate that the chance of being killed by one .22 round are about the same as for one .45 round, the difference being that death from the .22 is likely to take longer. The .22 actually seems to be MORE deadly than the .32. Even a Moose can be dropped with a .22 if shot in the forehead. I have personally seen a steer that weighed close to a thousand pounds dropped in his tracks by a .22SHORT in the brainpan, not to mention some 500 pound hogs. Any round that will penetrate a half inch or more of yellow pine should be considered potentially lethal. A CCI minimag .22LR will go through an inch and a half of yellow pine and keep flying and that is a hollow point. At close range I have shot a hole through the bottom of a heavy steel cooking pot with a .22LR fired from a Beretta Bobcat pistol which has a barrel only about twice the length of the cartridge. I only say all this because some people do seem to greatly UNDERESTIMATE the danger of these little “mouseguns”. They should be respected, amazing numbers of humans have been killed by the little .22. In fact a good .22 or even a .177 caliber pellet gun can be lethal.
There are others?
Well, yes.
