WASHINGTON The Air Force is disappointed in the airman who appeared in a photo that is being circulated of her posing with her tongue in the mouth of the prisoner of war depicted on the iconic black-and-white POW/MIA emblem.
We do not yet have all the details behind the photo, but it certainly is a concern; its a concern any time someone shows disrespect for prisoners of war and those missing in action, Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James Cody said in a statement. They deserve our utmost respect and we must always remember their sacrifice and the legacy theyve left for us as men and women serving our nation.

Miley Virus thinks it was too tame
Oh, please take our tax$$$$ to track down a drunken prank!
“Air man” ... no problem there!
8^( And she’s got three stripes too.
You mean Had Three Stripes.
Was she twerking simultaneously?
She is in charge of how many innocent males?
“Appropriate action” means ‘a promotion’ in today’s reverse parallel universe.
We have QUEERIFIED our military, what the hell do you expect????????
She says she was a young Airman who did not care. Is the Air Force in the habit of three striping Airmen who don't care? I think she is not the only one that made a mistake, whoever was doing the promoting is a screw up too!
I saw the picture, is that really worth punishment? Isn’t the US POW a positive image, and she is kissing him?
Maybe they are upset the kiss is heterosexual. I know she’s in uniform, but this country has become childish about criticizing every little thing a person does or says.
She’ll be claiming racism.
She will out by September.
Few Americans serve in the armed forces. Less than 2%. Those of us that do, have high standards. This so called airman does not belong in our ranks.
Who ever took this picture should face the music as well.
The photograph shows both a lack of respect for our fellow service members who have sacrificed so much for this nation, lack of awareness of how classless her actions were and a lack of respect for herself as well.
Were I to witness one of my soldiers doing this I would gladly go before my chain of command to recover my boot from their ass !
>> Isnt the US POW a positive image, and she is kissing him?
Huh? WTF kind of idiotic sophistry is THAT?
Damn straight that daughter of Obama should feel the hard boot up her butt.
A disrespectful pig is all she is.
Destruction (”transformation”) of our military is proceeding as planned.
Much ado about nothing. This is America, a free country.
Please remove the image from my post. I was composing the post as post # 17 was made. Once is more than enough, and we don’t need the high resolution.
give it a blanket party and see if it gets it's mind right
Exactly right — what's worse is apparently that no officer has the "standing" to demand proof of eligibility.
If Obama had a daughter
National League of POWMIA Families is a private organization. I don’t think that they even receive any public funds. So what action could the AirForce take that couldn’t be opposed in court?
“On August 10, 1990, the 101st Congress passed U.S. Public Law 101-355, which recognized the Leagues POW/MIA flag and designated it as the symbol of our Nations concern and commitment to resolving as fully as possible the fates of Americans still prisoner, missing and unaccounted for in Southeast Asia, thus ending the uncertainty for their families and the Nation.
The importance of the Leagues POW/MIA flag lies in its continued visibility, a constant reminder of the plight of Americas POW/MIAs from all wars, including those now ongoing.
“Other than Old Glory, the Leagues POW/MIA flag is the only flag ever to fly over the White House, having been displayed in this place of honor on National POW/MIA Recognition Day since 1982.”
From their website, but how can that translate into legal action. We’re not talking about Acorn or Operation Push after all.
Active Duty ping.
What she did was childish and stupid. But if she had been a sodomite sticking his tongue in the mouth of the POW nothing would have been said about it. They do what they feel like doing and dare you to do anything about it. The sodomite would have immediately started hollering that he was being singled out because was transgenderLBGTPMSNCBgender confused.
Things like this can be (and are, in my experience) handled under UCMJ Article 134:
“Article 134. General article:
Though not specifically mentioned in this chapter, all disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces, all conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces, and crimes and offenses not capital, of which persons subject to this chapter may be guilty, shall be taken cognizance of by a general, special, or summary court-martial, according to the nature and degree of the offense, and shall be punished at the discretion of that court.
10 U.S.C. § 934”
Kind of a catch-all that covers all sorts of dumbassery
All my years of dedicated law enforcement service in that armpit of the world Cook County, IL, tells me that in this case that UCMJ Article will be interpreted in the defendant’s favor.
>> Much ado about nothing. This is America, a free country.
Hmmm... so, in your opinion, this pig enjoys “freedom of expression”... but those of us who are disgusted should refrain from expressing our disgust?
IOW, she is entitled to be free of the CONSEQUENCES of her act?
Please tell me more about your concept of freedom.
I think that’s a bit of an overreaction.
As the senior NCO of an Infantry battalion, I can tell you that commanders do charge service members on dumb-ass twitter and waste-book postings that bring discredit on the service. And I have yet to see one overturned on appeal.
There is a special look on a soldier’s face when you show him the stupid picture he posted, and read him his rights. Last one I was involved with cost the soldier two ranks and half-month’s pay for two months.
No one said you can’t criticize her. I’m aware members of the armed services do all kinds of things wrong including murder. But she IS in the volunteer service and I have no need to call her a pig and all these other angry rants on here. The photo doesn’t amount to much and gee is this the first member of our armed forces to act rowdy?
If you read the article, she posted on facebook (before it was taken down) that the pic was three years old and she was young, dumb, and stupid and made a mistake that she hopes she will not be paying for, for the rest of her life..
I think we can accept that as the truth...
>> gee is this the first member of our armed forces to act rowdy?
“Everyone does it so it’s OK.”
Have you morals? Character? Ideals?
Or is everything relative?
Well, they didn't make her a Major, like the Army with Hassan.....
Article 15 or Court Martial? Because if you are taking pay I think that’s CM: but then again, I mustered out in ‘93 so what do I know.
Obviously, there is nothing you consider worth fighting for.
You can take pay in an Article 15.
Higher penalties, of course, in Field-Grade Article 15s, which is where our internet poster wound up
Any idea why my comment w/ photo was removed? Stars & stripes isn’t on the copyright list.
Really? Mod pulled my comment too because of the pic resolution? What Stars & Stripes idiot put up a 46k image on a website without resizing it? Whooda thunk to check that little 229x300 pic?
I guess I’ll just have to watch the res; too tired to bother resizing/uploading now and I can’t find the words to rewrite my comment...
I am corrected, thanks.
I think one of the other posters wanted only one pic up and posted theirs around the time you posted yours -- maybe the mod got overzealous?
That’s just a silly comment there apparently is information posted that this photo is 3 years old and the woman has stated she was young and dumb.
There are plenty of things I’d fight for I hardly think my reaction to that stupid photo needs to top the list.
Because you are curious the answer is yes I have morals standards and ideals. Also forgiveness which Christ taught me, and perspective gained from life. Thanks for asking.
I consider you a pompous jerk.
Even? Fine, now go have a nice life.
