FCC Agency study could stifle freedom of the press, says FCC official
Fox 43 ^ | Feb 20, 2014 | FoxNews

An Obama administration plan that would get researchers into newsrooms across the country is sparking concern among congressional Republicans and conservative groups.

The purpose of the proposed Federal Communications Commission study is to “identify and understand the critical information needs of the American public, with special emphasis on vulnerable-disadvantaged populations,” according to the agency.

However, one agency commissioner, Ajit Pai, said in a Wall Street Journal op-ed piece Wednesday that the May 2013 proposal would allow researchers to “grill reporters, editors and station owners about how they decide which stories to run.”

He also said he feared the study might stifle the freedom of the press.

The gov’t has been imposing “censorship” on the news rooms for years. My guess is that censorship will be expanded. We see the censorship, for example, in the way the TV outlets intentionally fail to mention the race of a perp, except of course, where the perp is white and accused of a hate crime.

If you haven’t already, send emails, make calls to your Senators and Reps to stop this BS! I burned up the kb on this subject the other night but have still just begun to let them know what I think of this.

Otherwise it will be like the NSA & IRS, reported on, discussed, then ignored.

This is absolutely splendid.

The media sold its soul for Obama, and this is how he repays them.

To be upset about all of this assumes that, during the last 60 years, the media has been engaged in objective and honest reporting when, in fact, the exact opposite has been the case—The media chose sides and, in doing so, demonstrated that they are not worthy of Constitutional protection.

I’m about to OD on the Schadenfreude.

So now the fcc too is being used to destroy the rights of honest, law-abiding citizens who are not members of a privileged minority group.

Thank goodness there’s one powerful news outfit that has picked this up and started hammering on it, namely Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, which has been on this like white on rice (or black on soot, take your pick).

As mind-boggling as it would seem, apparently the rest of the media are perfectly content to have fascist overseers peering over their shoulders and making “suggestions” as they crank out the “news”. But then again, that’s how fascism always works, those who think they are favored are perfectly happy to collaborate. That is, until they are horrified when they are subsequently shutdown or simply subsumed.

Last night, this issue was the first one after Ukraine coverage on Megyn Kelly’s show, and may have been the first exposure of this issue on national television. (Megyn also picked up on the horror going on in Boston right now concerning the “legal” kidnapping of a couple’s child by Child Protective Services because of a dispute between the child’s doctors about treatment.)

Easy enough. If it's a DNC talking point, it runs.

I’m sure the ACLU is on this like Annie Gaylor on a public manger scene, right?

I’m sure journalist school deans are writing OP-EDs expressing their outrage in all major newspapers as we speak...

All who have not seen the German movie "The Lives of Others" about life in East Germany within the Iron Curtain, should see it ASAP.

The Media may think they have cushy, secure jobs, and not mind their political overseers, but one false move and being blackballed as a matter of principle would result in perpetual unemployment. Scary even for liberals... Think that can't happen here?

This sounds like a pre-emotive strike by Obama. His internals may be showing the media is about to slowly turn on him so he is doing this to keep the cattle from stampeding. Can’t have that now can he? Throw the fear of god(obama) in the collective media.
