Head of GOP Anti-Tea Party Group: Ted Cruz Should Leave Party
Breitbart ^ | 20 Feb 2014 | Tony Lee

Posted on 02/21/2014 6:14:49 AM PST by SoConPubbie

The leader of a super PAC that is using donations from labor unions to wage war on the Tea Party went on MSNBC to say that Sen. Ted Cruz should leave the Republican party.

Former Rep. Steven LaTourette is a member in the establishment's war on the Tea Party. His deceptively named "Defending Main Street" PAC is being financed primarily by Wall Street and labor unions, which have contributed at least 20% to the group's fundraising haul.

In an appearance on MSNBC's The Last Word on Tuesday, LaTourette said that Cruz was "reprehensible" for forcing Republicans to go on the record to advance a bill to raise the debt ceiling without reducing spending. Cruz forced those like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) to vote to move the bill to the floor. McConnell said he had to act to "protect the country" before then voting against final passage of the bill, which passed with no Republican support.

"I don't think he is a Republican, to tell you the truth," LaTourette said on MSNBC, dividing Republicans on a liberal outlet that has vilified Republicans to the point where RNC Chairman Reince Priebus had previously called for a boycott. "I wish he would stop being a Republican and leave the party. That would be a nice thing."

LaTourette continued to criticize Cruz and conservatives for trying to "cannibalize" and "criticize" the party without mentioning that conservatives have been frustrated that when Republicans--like LaTourette--finally got control of government during the 2000s they expanded it instead of shrinking it. Conservative voters have elected those like Cruz and Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) to make the GOP more reflective of its voters that have been trending more conservative the last 13 years since the "Boomtown" GOP crowd started controlling the federal government.

Exactly. I have had it with the GOP Establishment, completely.

These people only care about their own personal power and what they can do to benefit themselves.

Boehner, Cantor, McConnell, McCornyn and that ilk do not give a Rat’s Arse about what is happening to our Country, our Liberty or our Future Generations ability to remain Free and Independent.

Each one of these pukes are Derelict in their Duty to uphold the Oath of Office that they swore to and that pisses me off more than anything. They are frauds, liars and worthy of all the scorn and contempt that we can heap upon them. I hope and pray that a huge number of these reprobates get tossed out of office in the coming Primaries.

I think Karl Roollover has a PAC to defeat the Tea Party and now FORMER LaTourette is starting one. The Tea Party is doing something right, is frightens the permanent DC members of the republican party.

Thanks for this thread.

_________

To all Republicans In Name Only:

The Liberal Democrats are on the run due to their unanimous support of Obamacare, and are not currently effectively attacking us.

We will attack them after the Congressional RINO Leadership is subdued.

In 2010 we sent Republicans to Congress to abolish Obamacare.

For that historic grassroots effort we have been repaid by consistent Cave-Ins, betrayals and cheap verbal abuse from the RINO Leadership at the GOP Convention, in Congress and on TV.

Now the Congressional RINO Leadership has launched an an all out attack on us.

Fine! BRING IT! If you attack us, we will attack you back!

We will fight those who refuse to fight Obama, and we will fight those we chose to fight us.

RINOs fit both of those categories to a “TEA.”

BTW, the TEA Party is THE SILENT MAJORITY of old, with a voice, so prepare for a long battle.

Enjoy the long battle ahead, RINOs.

It is all about Obamacare, RINOs.

The RINOs have failed for 5 long years, and now it our turn to ABOLISH Obamacare in 2014.

Mr LaTourette had better be careful of what he wishes for.Cuomo The Lesser has openly demanded that Republicans leave New York and now LaTourette wants Cruz to leave the party.A message to Mr LaTourette...”Sir,I am so “Middle America” it would make your head spin.I’m neither brilliant nor stupid, rich nor poor, saintly nor utterly evil. But if Cruz leaves it’s likely that I’ll leave with him.Sounds like you’ve been making far too much of *my* hard earned money for far too long”.

If the quisling Steve LaTourette represents 'the Party', then Senator Cruz can easily answer as did Ronald Reagan in a different way many years ago ....

I didn't leave the Party, they left me (and all of the limited government fiscal/social/strong defense conservative voters who form the BASE of the Republican Party).

Ya. Seems to be the same old story of declining civilizations. People forget what is important is not what free stuff and false promises but integrity.

I don’t blame the politicians. The problem is with us, the voter. The voter sets the standards and expectations that the politicians must follow.

Ted Cruz SHOULD leave the GOP - and so should all patriots.

*********
Agree. The GOP is more of a social club than a party with any kind of mission. It stands for nothing.

Think for a minute what would happen if Cruz did leave the party. (I believe he won’t, but humor me here.)

How does the GOP deal with the lose if the Conservative vote, because Conservatives will follow Cruz.

How does the GOP differ from the Democrats to the uninformed voter?

Anyway, looks like Kabuki theater to me.

Brilliant idea!! Let Cruz leave and take millions and millions of dollar donating, phone banking, enthusiastic conservatives with him! I’ve already left and would love the opportunity to join Cruz’s new party.

....”Sen. Ted Cruz should leave the Republican party”....

Oh that’s funny.....especially since Cruz said most people don’t realize how close we are to taking over the Republican Party, which is their real beef!

It’s both. Leadership is certainly important and expected. We are not all cut out to be politicians and lawmakers, so we hire those who are and we expect them to follow the law.

But the culture is certainly to blame.

caww, you nailed it. That is WHY the GOPe is in such a fearful mood. We need to keep it up folks—at the national Congressional level as well as at the state and local level.

Nah, it's worse than that. LaTourette is a democRAT in sheep's clothing. His 'Main Street Partnership' PAC is being funded by unions and even George Soros.

This is not even a squishy moderate group of RINOs. LaTourette is not MainStreet but rather full on LeftWing. Big Time!
