Rankings put Cornyn as more conservative than Stockman
Dallas news ^ | Feb 6, 2014 | Todd J. Gillman

New rankings of lawmakers’ votes show that that Sen. John Cornyn ranks as more conservative among senators than Rep. Steve Stockman ranks in the House, despite the latter’s contention that Cornyn is too liberal:

How they rank: National Journal, a public-policy magazine, ranked all members of Congress on a conservative/liberal scale based on votes on key legislation in 2013. Cornyn ranked the 14th-most conservative of the 100 senators. Stockman ranked 138th among the 435 House members. He was behind all but two of the 24 Texas Republicans and in the middle of all House Republicans.

How it works: The particular issues that come up for a vote in any given year can contribute to fluctuations. Stockman ranked especially conservative on fiscal issues, but less so on social and foreign policy issues, which dragged down his composite score. Social policy was Cornyn’s most conservative category.

Don’t see Jeff Sessions on the list, always thought that he and DeMint were the most consrveative Senators

Facts from the National Journal? These are the same hacks that listed
McCain as the most conservative GOP member in 2010. Just because
NJ says it does not make it so.

He still bears the name “Republican”, so RINO still applies as a start at least. Other epithets can follow from that, such as traitor to conservatives as you point out.

Dittoes on the IBTZ.

This troll was shilling earlier today for Thomas Sowell and his many tirades against Ted Cruz.

Now he’s coming up with this laughable (and discredited) crap for Cornyn?

IBTZ.

You wouldn’t know a “fact” if it kicked you in the behind. Facts, to you, are anything you say they are.

Jeff Sessions and Vitter have been fighting Rubiocare for over a year.

Sessions and Vitter are not at the top because they probably vote for some flood insurance bills.

They also rank all issues equally. Whether it is a flood bill or a $6 Trillion amnesty.

Lou Barletta has 60 or 70% conservative rating but he will never vote to create 12 million Democrats. The opposite is true of Gowdy and Labrador.

The NRA rating Harry Reid and Sharon Angle as equally likely to support gun control.

Stockman pointed to one poll, maybe it was Heritage Action who had Cruz and Stockman 1 and 2 in the delegation.

Steve King votes for wind, ethanol and farm bill but relative to his constituents he is pretty conservative.

John Cornyn claims to be the 2nd most conservative member of the Senate.

Yet, as Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, he
hand-selected these "Republican" candidates:
  • Arlen Specter - Democrat
  • Charlie Crist - Democrat
  • Lincoln Chafee - Democrat
  • Lisa Murkowski - Independent

Also, when he had a chance to stop ObamaCare by supporting Ted Cruz' filibuster

he FAILED

and hid behind a meaningless vote later.

He pulled the same trick on the Senate amnesty bill
and again on raising the debt limit.

For those who are interested in facts...

But only selected facts, not the bigger picture including procedural votes, support of moderates/liberals over conservatives...

He posts this crap then runs away and crystal like a little baby.
Too gutless to hang around and defend his post, I guess that’s what trolls do.

I’m for Stovall all the way. Don’t think he can beat the media’s pushing Stockman as the Cornyn alternative though.

Nice try, attempting to push the weirdo Stockman forward as being Cornyn’s opponent. We know Cornyn already has his usual slimy attack ads ready to eviscerate Stockman,so conservatives wouldn’t be so dumb.

However,Stockman probably made a sweet deal in exchange for his disappearing act from the campaign trail, so someone will be happy after the election.

“For those who are interested in facts...”

Fasts are a stubborn thing.

This RINO voted for CLOTURE on way too many Socialist bills that allowed the Obama commies in the U.S. Senate to pass them and the Commie Pres. to sign then into law.

Things on John Cornyn’s To Do list:
1. Call National Review and all other GOP-E fishwraps and get them to say bad things about Ted Cruz
2. Call all the useful idiots in the MSM and repeat step #1
3. Log onto FR as Innovative and say nice things about myself.
4. Kiss 0’s ass.
5. Watch the Dems piss on the Constitution
6. Sit back and enjoy the show.

For many years now, these rating systems have been skewed to favor incumbency. They are not reliable.

... What facts would those be? Everyone knows the cloture game these dirtbags play to get their ratings up.

“Oh, I voted against it! I just voted so we could have a debate, but in the end, I voted NO!”

Yeah, we’re not falling for that anymore.

Speaking of memory, how is yours?

Sen. Richard Lugar defeated by tea party challenger

http://articles.latimes.com/2012/may/09/nation/la-na-lugar-election-20120509

“Conservative rival Richard Mourdock easily wins Indiana’s Republican Senate primary over the 35-year incumbent. He will face Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly in the general election.”

Followed by:

Joe Donnelly upsets Richard Mourdock in Indiana

“Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly pulled off a stunning upset over Republican Richard Mourdock in the Indiana Senate race — a battle that the GOP thought was a sure win until the final days of the campaign.”
