JACKSON, Mississippi (Reuters) - The University of Mississippi wants to question three white male students who may have been involved in draping a noose and a Confederate flag over a statue of James Meredith, the African-American student who braved segregationist mobs to integrate the school in 1962, campus police said on Friday.

They should have played the knockout game. Apparently that’s legal.

There could still be much more to this story and we have no idea as to the motivations of the accused.

It could be that they happen to be liberal white students who are sympathetic to the agenda pushed by the Black Student Alliance or some similar group and wanted to prove themselves to the cause.

It will likely prove to have been done by a black liberal, just as every other one of these have been done before.

They’ve already been found guilty, without a trial.

Ole Miss frat suspended, noose suspects kicked out
February 21, 2014 at 10:42 PM

OXFORD, Miss. — A fraternity chapter at the University of Mississippi was indefinitely suspended Friday by its national organization and three of its freshman members were kicked out because of their suspected involvement in hanging a noose on a statue of James Meredith, the first black student to enroll in the then all-white college.

In a statement, Sigma Phi Epsilon said it suspended the Alpha Chapter at the university and the chapter voted to expel all three men and turn over their identities to investigators.

Yes, it does not pass the smell test. Most likely a hoax.

Sigma Phi Epsilon said it suspended the Alpha Chapter ....

Students can then assume the Bravo, Charlie, and Delta chapters are safe?

Nope, no need for a trial or an administrative board - no nuthin' when the seriousness of the charges is steeped in the centuries of guilt harbored by whites for slavery.

You’re probably right. I think I heard that Meredith is a conservative republican.

There have been quite a few arrests in knockout game incidents.

Apparently it is not legal.

You don’t need a trial to be thrown out of school or from a job.

And what is so ironic about this story is that the University of Mississippi in Jackson is one of America’s historic Black colleges. There are about 15 of them, and they are all in the South.

Ole Miss, the approved school for politicians and lawyers in Mississippi,
It is hard to get elected to any office above the county level there without some affiliation with “Ole Miss”.

I think you may be confusing Jackson State with the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) which is located in Oxford,Mississippi.

The hemp noose is a stronger symbol to Blacks who have kept it alive in their imaginations than to Whites who have no modern reference for it. When I see a noose has been left or drawn somewhere I think it far more likely that a Black person put it there.

If the statue were of Ronald Reagan this would be a highly praised demonstration of First Amendment rights and the perpetrators would receive scholarships.

One more comment: I’m so thankful I went to college over 40 years ago when people still had a sense of humor and no one would “rat you out” if you did something stupid. This was still a free country back then.
