They are far, far more in danger of:

1) being killed by a drunk driving illegal Mexican,
2) robbed by an illegal Mexican,
3) raped by an illegal Mexican,
4) have their identity stolen by an illegal Mexican,
5) have to wait at the emergency room for treatment because of an illegal Mexican,
6) their child’s education suffers because their teachers have to pander to illegal Mexicans’ children in their own language,
7) getting some heretofore extinct disease because of an illegal Mexican,
8) having their vote diluted because of an illegally voting illegal Mexican,
9) having to pay more taxes because of illegal Mexicans illegally and legally receiving entitlements.....

Need I go on?

"It will be a more dangerous place for criminals."

And tyrants.

Lawmakers should begin looking at other ways to ensure fairness

Yeah right. Sean Penn, notorious wife beater and prone to assault photographers, has a concealed weapons permit.

This sort of legislation really is a slippery slope. The gun owners "compromise" on only a little restriction to keep the noisy happy, and all of a sudden the paradigm changes from doing what they've a specific right to do, to doing what the state allows them to do. At which point it is a natural inclination of the statists and the fearmongers to insist on more, more, more. That is why compromise on the issue is an illusion.

We aren't being "allowed" to do anything. There's no "allow" in this.

I almost hope they do, because as we speak literally millions seeking security and protection which are now only afforded to celebrities, the wealthy and politicians, are either in the process or planning on applying.

In CA government has gotten away unconstitutional civil rights violations and oppression for many years now while most other states recognize Americans right to protect themselves. Just as the wealthy well connected are now afforded.

I think they’re going to lose here this time even if this goes to SCOTUS. If not, they’re going to create an even greater tsunami of dissent and endless legal actions.

the state of Flor took the lea in liberalizing it it in liberalizing it’s gun laws and at that time the left screamed bloody murder, saying that it would transform the the streets of florida into Boot Hill or the OK Corral.

Nothing like that of the sort ever happened.

We are now seeing history repeat itself.

FBI Study shows that as CCW increases, crime decreases.

Rumor has it that hip waders are being brought in by the truckload due to all the impending blood that'll be running in the streets of California

I know that is what happened here in Kansas when they passed CCW. That is why we are called a red state.

Leftist newspaper editors use this same lie every time concealed carry is mentioned. The opposite has happened in every state, but they still tell the same lie. They have no shame, being RATS.

Criminals have carried and will continue to carry without approvals, permits and training for years and they’re worried that law abiding citizens might carry too?

Uh, otherwise law abiding citizens have been carrying without permits for years. They just hope they won't get caught. As you say, criminals do carry and continue to do so without worrying too much. From my own experience in San Francisco over the past few decades I've seen numerous handguns carried by regular decent citizens without permits; only a few politically connected persons (like Dianne Feinstein) had permits.

It's at the point where you see laws regularly ignored on the left (as in protections for illegal aliens etc.) that some laws are becoming meaningless and beg to be ignored in order to get by in life.

As if those in a corrupt one-party state aren’t already in grave danger. Guess the Sacramento mafia doesn’t like competition.

My fault here, as the LA Times won’t allow anyone to read this except those who pay or register. Don’t do that.

However, the title at the top of this editorial should give a hint as to how the leftist oppressors have legally backed themselves into a corner here.
