President Barack Obama’s national security adviser said Sunday it would be a “grave mistake” for Russia to intervene militarily in Ukraine.

Susan Rice said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that in Obama’s phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday the two agreed that a political settlement in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, should ensure the unity of the country and the right of Ukrainians to express their free will. She was asked whether the White House fears Putin will send Russian troops into Ukraine.

“That would be a grave mistake,” she said. “It’s not in the interest of Ukraine or of Russia or of Europe or the United States to see the country split.” …

Does anyone with a brain larger than the size of a pinhead think that the Russians care what Susan Rice, John Kerry, or Barrack Obama have to say about the Ukraine?

Oh, and exactly what would this president do? Just send a stern verbal warning or two (remember the line in the sand stuff?), then look like a fool.

The last time an idiot leftist American (Wes Clark) tried to start a war with Russia, the Brits on the ground told him “No”. Its even funnier when you find out that this is the guy who told him no.

Didn't Barky assure Putin that after the the election, he'd be more "flexible," as in more submissive? Maybe this is just Barky keeping his promise, and hoping to help reestablish the Soviet Union, v2.0?

The problem will probably be those "pesky" Ukrainians, who I'm sure still have vivid memories of Stalin's Russia, and Stalin's murderous spree, as covered up by Walter Duranty.

We stand zero chance of winning a new cold war with Russia.

Financially we’re only in marginally better shape than they were at the end of the last one.

Isn’t she the “Its all the Video’s Fault” Lady? Isn’t she the say anything for the greater glory of Obama Chick? Why, why would anyone believe a word out of her mouth? If, Russian Nationals are threatened by the Rebel Government in Ukraine, Putin will send in the Tanks to protect them. He may even be forced to seize 1/3 of their land (where the Russian speaking people live and that should be part of Russia)—Does he have a treaty with the elected leaders of Ukraine? Maybe he will support them in a Civil War? What can we do? Do we want to get into WW III over this question? What will the EU do—if anything?

The United States has been rendered irrelevant.

GOOD!!!!!

We shouldn't be relevant to this. Thank goodness we don't have McCain threatening war with Russia.

Rice should just shut up. And so should the Russia baiters.

What is Hussein planning if they do? Hold his breath until his lips turn purple? Too late. Putin will do as he pleases and wussie boy Bathhouse Barry has put us in a position where there's not much we can do.

Meanwhile, regime morons will get back to cutting military pay and benefits, while decrying our inability to respond. /sarc

Condi Rice warned a few years ago that the US should stand against Russia’s provocation in Georgia. If they had listened to her then we probably wouldn’t have this Ukraine problem.
