For the first time, support for gay marriage in Ohio has reached the 50 percent threshold in the Quinnipiac Poll, a new survey released today shows.

Led by support among young voters, exactly half of Ohioans back same-sex marriage, compared to 44 percent who oppose it.

The new findings, which mirror public opinion shifts across the nation, represent a reversal since December of 2012, when 47 percent of Ohioans opposed gay marriage and 45 percent supported it. The change comes almost entirely from independent voters; Democrats support and Republicans oppose gay marriage by about the same percentages as before. …

This is one for the books, for those who would study propaganda

Indeed. Goebbels would be envious...

There’s also Canada’s actual experience. After giving in to the propaganda, after more than 8 years Canada has fewer than 100 such “couples” to show for it.

Less than 100 couples? That doesn't seem to be correct.

According to the Canadian government census site, the 2011 census in Canada reported "A total of 64,575 same-sex couple families were reported in the 2011 Census, up 42.4% from 45,345 in 2006 (Table 3). Of these couples, 21,015 were same-sex married couples and 43,560 were same-sex common-law couples. While 16.5% of same-sex couples were married couples in 2006, this share nearly doubled to 32.5% in 2011.

The Right will soon lose this debate because they let the Left define the terms and premises. The Right assumes government should define and grant Marriages.

It does not. God does.

Get your governments out of the Marriage business, and let people establish contracts. If governments one day decide to force us to honor a contract between other people (forcing a business to grant health insurance to a polygamist’s spouse, for example), or to force churches to mmarry gays, the we have tyranny.

If that’s the case, then that’s the case. I don’t wish to carry on an error. That’s the danger of relying on an old meme. (That might be the number that actually stayed “married” for the 8 years.)

It certainly reflects a different attitude than the “gays” of old, whom you couldn’t pay to “marry.” It was considered a thrill kill. Affairs in the wild were considered the ideal. And these arrangements when attempted often proved very unstable and would provoke more promiscuity, not less. I wonder if while the craze is growing, the rate of “divorces” is keeping pace. Also is Canada remembering to strike from the books those who “divorced”?

At any rate, if the end game of this perversion is to flame like Sodom, even the attempt to “civilize” it through “marriage” will fail and “gay marriage” will be left behind. What relevance would “marriage” have to the mad, evil wish to rape in a gang bang, to meld love and violence in an unholy union? Maybe that’s why polygamy/polyamory is next up?

Anyhow, I will be careful about this in the future.

It is time to repent.

I’d also be curious how many of these “marriages” even involve sex at all. The state doesn’t even require a husband and a wife to engage in sex to be a husband and wife, so certainly not this. If they are means of leveraging benefits, then any pair of men or women with a don’t-care attitude might do this. Marriages of convenience, in this brave new world. I’d almost wonder if this might devolve into some sort of “household marriage” where a brother and sister might engage, though presumably being watchful not to have intercourse for the sake of any offspring. Because if a brother and brother can “gay marry” then mixed sex siblings will be clamoring for it.

Maybe the whole idea of “state marriage” will turn into a joke. And religious marriages will come full circle and be respected once more, because not every “state marriage” will be a “religious marriage.” God has a way of popping His head up above the chaos and saying “Miss Me yet?” no matter how bad the chaos.

It’s time for modern Christendom to light the way of repentance (which simply means restoration to a right attitude with respect to God).

It hasn’t dealt very much with the issue in its churches, other than saying that it’s bad. But repentance comes on account of kindness (that’s not HTRN making this up, that’s the bible).

Conservatives will lose this battle because they have lost control of the language...even most people here at FR refer to sodomites/queers/homosexuals as ‘gay’ It is such a benign word...’gay’. That is precisely why it was chosen by the godless marxist left so many years ago.

Also, churches would do well to become familiar with the common issues that appear in homosexuals’ lives. Being able to address them in kindness rather than in scorn will do a lot to help such people stay the course to realization of holiness. It puts visible arms and feet on the Lord’s promises to care.

Your name is “who knows what evil” but the challenge for mankind is, “who knows what good.” Where it comes from and what it looks like.

In fact to do this will be to rediscover charity, which is a charity of time and effort and relationship more than a charity of money. The church might have thought it sufficient to throw money at things. But money isn’t the answer to everything, despite the preacher’s tongue in cheek pronunciation in Ecclesiastes. Sometimes it’s you, not your money, that God wants.

Well, the word “gay” does signify a vain striving. It is a sad irony.

For a little “gayness” homosexuals reap a lot of misery. Neither nature nor God is cheated; both are avenged by the effects of their loss or distance.

Anyone who underestimates the power of the “lamestream media” and its Hollywood allies to shape public opinion today should find this instructive. When they decide it’s time to kill Christians, it should take them just a couple weeks to convince the public.

They control public education and they control entertainment. The brainwashing is almost complete. I am feeling very discouraged for this country.

I suspect that you are 100% correct insofar as once it is legal, it will no longer be compelling to many.

Along with the privileges, whatever those may seem to be, there are many, many responsibilities of marriage. They aren’t fun, but they are necessary.

A friend of mine said that gay people shouldn’t be “allowed” to marry, instead they should be “forced” to marry. She means it as a joke, but I know what she’s saying - marriage comes with the expectation of a lot of hard work.

Everything from the expectation of fidelity to sharing finances (good and bad), paying the “marriage penalty”, sharing family responsibilities, etc. Even those without children will suddenly have the expectation of taking care of their ageing in-laws. Single people don’t have those concerns. Planning for retirement, taking care of one’s spouse when sick, and so on. It never ends and it is really hard.

Churches have premarital counselling for that very reason - people who aren’t married usually seriously underestimate how much work being married is.
