SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A bill introduced by a Democratic lawmaker would prohibit the sale of Confederate flags on California state property.
((snip))
The issue came to his attention after his mother spotted replica Confederate money on sale in the Capitol gift shop. Hall, who is black, calls the Confederate flag a symbol of racism, exclusion and violence.

When can we get rid of that?
Don’t you have to find it first?
When can we get rid of that?
There people have gone completely mad. Thank an educrat.
whats next the American Flag?
‘Cause his mommy told him to.
Since California was a Union state, and their participation in the Civil War was miniscule at best, I’m not sure why a state run gift shop would want to sell a rebel flag to begin with.
“Im not sure why a state run gift shop would want to sell a rebel flag to begin with.”
So they can ban it.
Uh, Freedom of Speech - - - ?
Hello? Anybody there?
Anybody care?
Hello?
I knew there had to be a reason.
American flag will be next up
I wonder if they also ban selling flags of nations who are sworn enemies of the US.
The country is heading for an apocalypse and democrats remain fixated on fanning the flames of racism, racial hate, an imaginary War On Women and anything else they can think of to keep people apart and to promote bickering and distrust over minor difference.
That draws attention away from the destruction and ruin the democrats are causing with their leftist policies and simplistic liberal fantasies.
One of my hobbies is wargaming, and the publishers occasionally complain about German laws dealing with anything with a swastika on it. History books can usually get by, but games are right on the edge so if the publisher expects to sell in Europe they will use Balkenkreuz or Iron Cross on German units even when not historically accurate just to avoid customs problems.
I see a Stars and Bars Confederate flag. Outlawed!
Hey! My great grandfather was stationed at the Presidio on San Francisco and at an outpost in San Jose for the duration of the war before he marched home to Pennsylvania.
Actions create reactions,
And words do too.
Rules that are changed,
Affect me and you.
Stay with Core Values,
Long tried and true,
History will judge
What you and I do.
Law expected to have no impact on Che t-shirt sales.
I am offended by many things other people say and do. I am often offended by symbols used by others.
However, I believe in freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of the press. Therefore I ignore the things that offend me knowing that to ban them would be no different than banning my speech, my religion, or my freedom to post on this website.
One of the strong cultural values of a truly free society is tolerance. For decades conservatives have tolerated free speech and expression by the left no matter how vulgar or obscene. The left expects tolerance from those who disagree with it but shows no tolerance, only hostility, for other points of view.
There is a fine line between tolerance which is voluntary and subjugation which is imposed. It seems our society is in the process of crossing that fine line. Free speech is now being politicized and criminalized. Bans of symbols and hate speech laws are a prime example of criminalizing free speech. Institutions and shared cultural values that protected the individual expression from control by the state have been destroyed. We are now seeing the law used to repress freedom of speech, religion, and the press.
My parents often said, “Sticks and stones will break your bones but names will never hurt you.” I can tolerate the obscenities I am bombarded with by Hollywood and liberal politicians by turning away and ignoring the noise. I cannot tolerate the iron boot of the state silencing my voice. I hope there are millions who will stand to push back tyranny when the time comes.
