In the county I live in, the are few jobs, move to another location, which is very difficult
In the county where I live, there are Help Wanted signs almost everywhere. Employers CAN'T FIND people with half a brain.
I lived in Texas during the S&L crisis... Lost my job. NO ONE was hiring. Couldn't sell my house for HALF of what I paid for it. I MOVED. All the way to Georgia, where the JOBS were. Two years later? I moved back home, cause thing's had gotten better.
It is EASY to say, "can't be done".
Reality is: It CAN be done. But, it isn't always EASY.
But, it requires desire, imagination, and a willingness to do 'whatever' you have to do.
You're correct that, liberal governments can practically drive out opportunity. But, they haven't taken over EVERYWHERE just yet.

Of course some people can move.
But we are in a much worse situation than in the G.D.

But we are in a much worse situation than in the G.D. Ageed.. Back then, most people GREW the food they ate. We've become a much more dependent society.
I never said the country ain't screwed. I'm just saying, SMART people with a WILL to work, will always do 'OK".
The problem today is, there are WAY too many people who meet neither of those qualifiers.

The Coming Collapse of the Welfare State: The shift to socialism means that some may live better than before but now they will have nowhere to go.

Most sane countries operate on comparable systems. Even relatively sparsely populated countries like Canada and New Zealand.I read somewhere that either New Zealand or Australia won't even take you if you are over 40. (I suspect that imported wealth would override that.)

My Dad, who LIVED through the Great Depression told me the same thing. It isn't always pretty, it is seldom easy, but it can be done. He grew up on a reservation in a rural area where the only cash work available was with the WPA. The WPA favored imports, not locals. Still, there was a lot of barter which went on. And when the WPA found out the locals could outwork the imports, they hired them.
Dad joked that the locals thought WPA stood for "We Putter Around".
