Prosecutors confirmed Tuesday that five King City police officers, including the former and acting chiefs of police, were arrested early this morning.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Terry Spitz said details of the arrests and charges against the officers would be announced at a press conference at 2 p.m. in Salinas. The officers arrested were longtime Chief Nick Baldiviez, who retired in September, Acting Chief Bruce Miller, Sgt. Bobby Carrillo and officers Mario Mottu Sr. and Jaime Andrade.

that’s just great...
And now we have to review every conviction they were ever involved in.
THIS IS WHY YOU DON’T STICK UP FOR BAD FELLOW OFFICERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Local papers indicate this was long-term corruption. Doesn’t go into details. Even the former chief was taken down.
5 at one time, with press conference to follow. My guess is this will be about moving drugs through that county.
So sad ping.
I bet its for speed traps and extortion.
King City has been a known police shakedown location for decades.
I'm sure they'll get a fair trial.

Just Mexicans bringing “their native culture” to California, how nice of them!
Just the 98% making a bad name for the 2%.
It wouldn’t be the first police department to be eliminated if they decide to that.
49 and retired?!! Pension scam?
Would this also involve a gun-running motorcycle club?
Some up at the Defense Language Institute and one in Greenfield some time ago had been selling guns to Cartelistas about a year ago.
Apparently they were selling impounded cars for cash.
Two of the four police departments with which I have experience tells me they are just the most well-armed gang in town operating under color of authority.
Many other departments I’ve glanced into are willing to write you a ticket for trying very hard to obey all the laws, but will not investigate actual crime against you.
You mean like Klintoon and Medina?
UPDATE:
At a press conference in Salinas, the district attorney’s office said the arrests were the result of a six-month investigation.
FBI aided in arrests. The scheme allegedly involved officers getting cars that had been impounded, then selling for a profit.
The non-police officer arrested was Brian Albert Miller, owner of Miller’s Towing and brother of King City Police Chief Bruce Miller.
Many victims were low income Hispanic drivers who couldn’t pay impound fees.
The investigation came after years of citizen complaints and their lack of trust in King City police.
District Attorney has already had to dismiss at least three cases due to lack of credibility of arrested officers. Others being monitored.
Thanks for the update. I lived in Monterey County a long time ago.
