I Called Stockman's Campaign HQ For an Update (Vanity)
February 26, 2014 | Din Maker

Posted on 02/26/2014 8:01:58 AM PST by Din Maker

Early Voting began a week ago Monday here in Texas, and ends this Friday, February 28th. Many of us have worked hard to defeat John Cornyn in the March 4th Primary, or at least get him into a Run-Off Election and possibly "Cruz" him out of the Senate. We started out with a lot of expectation and enthusiasm; of which both seem to be dwindling somewhat. Why is that? Probably because only one candidate, seemingly, is even serious about defeating Cornyn. And it is NOT Mr. Stockman.

Since he is my Congressman, I called his Congressional Office in my town yesterday to see how the campaign is going (since we never hear a peep out of him except via an occasional e-mail) and to just get an update and possibly some "encouraging" news. The lady said: "Oh, we're the Congressional Office; we know nothing about his campaign." I'm thinking: Hmmmmmm.... Then she said: "Let me give you his campaign office number." I took the number and thanked her. I then called what is apparently his ONLY campaign office in the entire State of Texas, located in Houston. I got a recording telling me to leave my name and number and they would get back with me. That was two (2) days ago and I have not heard a word from them. That is the first time since I've been politically active in 1980, that I have ever gotten a recording at the HQ of a State-wide Campaign Office in the middle of the day. Does he have only one person in the office?

I've made no secret about the fact that I am NOT supporting my two-time Congressman, Steve Stockman, for the U.S. Senate because he is just freakin' weird. Now, I'm convinced that he doesn't even want to win the Senate Race. He just wanted to raise over $450,000 this time around, to pay off his campaign debts from the 2012 Congressional Election. What suckers we've been.

By the way, that candidate who seems to be the only one even trying to win against Cornyn is Dwayne Stovall. But, I'm afraid all the Stockman lovers have already voted and it might be too late for Stovall to come in second place. I would love to see him and Cornyn in the Run-Off. I think Stovall will win. And, the Cornyn folks who are holding all that "dirt" on Stockman for the Run-Off Election, will be terribly disappointed.

Seems like "true" Conservatives can never catch a break.

Perhaps your Congressman Stockman has separated his Senate Campaign from his official Congressional auspices. Could be there are FEC rules here that are applicable.

I don’t understand your “weird” comments about him. Why this? Why now?

Sorry, but there just isn’t enough here for me to feel good about.

When all the Democrat papers in TX refer to the “Cornyn V. Stockman” race, you know they are promoting this idea because Stockman is an easy target for Cornyn’s attack ads. He is a flake with a checkered past who should be replaced by a serious candidate with a chance to win. We hope Dwayne Stovall can gain some traction before Election Day.

Stockman has run a bizarre campaign. I had high hopes for him, in the beginning...due to his being a current Rep and name recognition.

He’s pretty much been AWOL, except for his twitter “tweets”. No mailers, no web ads, no TV commercials, etc.

I’m voting for Dwayne Stovall. I’d like to see more ads from Dwayne, too. All I see/hear are non-stop “I’m a Conservative” Corny and Stockman smear ads :(

Anyone voting for Stockman will rapidly find out he is actually a Cornyn Strawman who was put up by Cornyn or his cronies to keep Cornyn in the Senate. If Strawman Stockman gets in the runoff he will campaign no more than he has for the Primary, guaranteeing Cornyn’s reelection.

Stovall is actually wanting to replace Cornyn, is conservative without any doubt. He has been endorsed by many Tea Party orgs. Stovall is as close to another Cruz as will have running. His problem is lack of campaign funds and Strawman drawing enough ill-informed votes to keep Stovall from being #2 in a runoff.

Let’s not fall for another Virginia style MacAwful libertarian strawman, vote Stovall in the Primary.

I’ve never seen either of them as serious, realistic challengers for Cornyn. Don’t even bring up Ted Cruz, there ain’t one this year.

I won’t vote for Cornyn but I’m not voting for Stockman or Stovall either.

Having looked at the candidates, I’m going with Stovall.

We can at least ask Stockman to keep taking Cornyn’s arrows, keeping Stovall - for whom I voted - under the GOPe radar.

Stovall is the man. I’ve met him twice. He is conservative and he’s busting his butt across the state.

If Strawman Stockman gets in the runoff

Doubting that... he isn’t even asking anybody for their vote!

Haven’t seen one campaign sign of his.

Even though Cruz said he’d not interfere with the Senate race, I think we’ll start to see some Cruz-Stovall associations sooner than later, even if oblique.

Good to hear.... dinners? Seems he already has the eastern half of the state’s support.

My wife and I went to vote last Saturday. There were zero campaign signs for Stockman or Stovall.

I know.. but if TX FReepers are representative of the population, not a lot have voted yet. I know you have the SOS daily ballot totals...

What we need is the Madison Project associating with Stovall, as Cruz’ proxy.

In the back of my mind is lurking the thought that the Stockman candidacy was all manufactured and the only one who will truly benefit from it is Cornyn, particularly if he and Stockman end up in a runoff.

I keep thinking that if Stockman was truly trying to unseat Cornyn he would be running a very aggressive campaign but I have yet to see any of it. My mailbox on a daily basis is full of continuous brochures from all the candidates except Stockman. I have had robocalls from several of the candidates asking that we vote for them but none for Stockman. No one from his campaign office has called and asked if he could speak to our group. I have yet to see any campaign ads on TV from him. Just nothing!

Suspicious? Yes. Rightly so? Would welcome comments from others.

To: Gaffer: Why did I use the term “weird”? Let me count the ways:

1. He has been my Congressman both times he served. He disappears periodically and no one knows where he is. This last “disappearance”, apparently he was in Israel. When in the middle of a short campaign season, why would a “serious” candidate leave the country?

2. During his first term on a radio interview on KLVI in Beaumont, TX with Jack Piper, Stockman dude was either drunk or stoned.

3. He’s been investigated numerous times for FEC violations.

4. He once admitted being in jail, now, that it has come out that he was in jail, he is denying it and threatening to sue.

5. How can he manage your tax dollars if he can’t manage his own affairs. Dude filed Bankruptcy. His reason: So he cold take care of his father who was ill. (Weird... millions of people have taken care of ill parents without filing bankruptcy.)

6. He has raised approximately $450,000 this campaign. What has he done with it. Not one Radio/TV ad, Newspaper Ad, Yard Sign, Billboard.... Nothing. How many campaign offices does he have? Where are they? Are they staffed.

7. Too much secrecy around this guy. I promise you; the Cornyn Team has all the dirt and it will come out in the Run-Off Election.

Now, do what you want to do Gaffer.

I don’t think Stockman will make the runoff, he’s simply not running! We have one good bond to make, that between the Madison Project and Stovall. Fast.

Obviously, you seem to be very well informed in dirt on him. Several of the items you cite are rather unspecific as to disposition and/or results from ‘investigations’ or such.

Frankly, I don’t know what to think. However, I’m not in Texas, and I don’t have a voting ‘dog’ in this hunt. I’m just curious because I don’t recall having ever seen one of your posts, that’s all.

You can do what you want with that, Din Maker.
