Saying they are encouraged by the House GOP leadership's "immigration principles" that they consider "guideposts," the business organizations wrote that they are "united in the belief that we can and must do better for our economy and country by modernizing our immigration system." They also pressed for amnesty by writing about the need to respect "family unity."
"Done properly, reform will deter illegal immigration, protect and complement our U.S. workforce, better respond to changing economic and demographic needs, and generate greater productivity and economic activity, while respecting family unity," they wrote. "Failure to act is not an option. We cannot afford to be content and watch a dysfunctional immigration system work against our overall national interest."
The day before, Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue pleaded for immigration reform and legislation that the Congressional Budget Office determined would lower the wages of American workers, as momentum has stalled on the legislation after the House's immigration principles were slammed as "amnesty" by the likes of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).
The Chamber of Commerce and high-tech interests--Facebook, for example--have vowed to spend millions this year to get amnesty, as leading Democrats have said that this year would be the last chance to enact significant immigration reform measures. Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) said last week that immigration reform was still a possibility after House and Senate leaders said that President Barack Obama has to prove first that he can be trusted to enforce any new immigration laws. Amnesty opponents have stressed that immigration reform would negatively impact American workers by

“Maybe people who actually have a vote need to write letters too”
Or maybe you people need to for a PAC and donate lots of cash in large bundles, then your voice can compete with others.
THIS is the best immigration site on the web. The visual you see when you link the page tells all.
SEND this link to your Congressmen and Senators once a week with four simple words. WE KNOW THE TRUTH.

I would like to add, it is not the letter, it is cash and people behind the letter that gives it its force.
Big Business was on the Arizona deal yesterday big time. NFL, Marriott, Apple
Just say no
“Is there a list of Chamber members, I want to boycott every single one of the traitors!”
Why don’t you guys play the Washington Game by the Washington rules ?
Pool your money and hire some damn lobbyists.
That is the game, and you guys need to play the game or you lose by default.
The scumbag Congress member can take contributions into the their reelection committee, and if they don't use it all it's all theirs...with some minor restrictions.
A Congressman can collect 5mil, spend 3mil and keep the 3 mil for himself.
The only way to beat the lure of bribes...is to promise to stretch their necks.
RIP GOP

There are 12 Democrats who won’t sign Pelosi’s discharge petition and only 20 Republicans who’ve signed up to house leadership’s guidelines.
I have no doubt they will try to pass amnesty in 2015 which is why McConnell needs to be punished and some of Boehner’s buddies.
The puppet masters are pulling the strings of the pathetic Boehner much more forcefully now. How many more ways can he and Eric Cantor find to sell out America—and merely for his Florida vacations and Cantor’s ambitions?
I think we have completed the shift from a free market to a mercantilist system formed of the partnership of business and government.
Boehner doesn't have any broad support within his own party for "comprehensive immigration reform". But, as he demonstrated with the debt ceiling, he only needs about two dozen GOP votes to pass an immigration bill -- if it enjoys near-unanimous Democrat support.
If he were to try this ploy, could the GOP caucus rouse itself to boot him in time, once the bill in placed in the hopper?
You'd have to be ready with a whole new leadership slate, because just booting Boehner would leave Cantor in charge.
Oh, I think so, and Gohmert has indicated he has already practically fallen through the ice. Nobody has confidence in him apart from his 12 die-hard acolytes
Big Business likes Facsism. Guarantees market share, stable prices and profits. Suppresses competition from the little guys, who don't have a voice in the corridors of power and get strangled by regulation.
Facsism is a comfortable way to do business. You don't have to compete anymore, just operate. The Krupps, Thyssens, Agnellis, etc. could all tell you how well it worked.
Yeah, pretty much.
201 'Rats, minus 12, plus 20 GOP = 209 for immigration reform. 232 GOP, minus 20, plus 12 'Rats = 224 against it (+2 vacancies).
I have no doubt they will try to pass amnesty in 2015 which is why McConnell needs to be punished and some of Boehners buddies.
They might be figuring that 2015 is too late. Any Democrat losses and/or Tea Party gains would mitigate against the prospect.
2014...or a lame duck session after the election... could be their last chance to sneak it through. But they need eight more votes...
This version is called Fascism, not mercantilism.
