The choice of headline is what is interesting here. It's actually a rather good report of a terrible crime and the background. The matter of firearms is not mentioned until almost the end.

Oh. And the murderer was also a "survivalist."

Were all 50+ weapons used in the killings? No, of course not. It only takes one. The mention of the other weapons is intended to be alarmist and to foment fear.

Would be the same if he had done it with a candlestick.

He also had a bunch of books, ban books as they promote evil bad think!
Demand common sense free speech licensing now!
/ sarc

I note their breathless report on 50+ guns, but they fail to connect that gun ownership is protected by the bill of rights.
Just like freedom of speech.
Idiot reporters mindlessly marching towards totalitarian dystopia.
And gleeful about it.

Always makes me laugh when people say “he had fifty or 100 or whatever number firearms” he still only had two hands - it’s not like he could fire them out his butt at the same time!

There were plenty of signs early on that this psycho was on the path to kill his family. Never should have let him out of jail. The number of guns is just sensationalism.

Local news back home for my folks. Turns out that this was a completely broken family, with trouble going back at least six years. The husband/father was a complete psycho, and the day before the murders, his wife had gotten an emergency “protective order” against him for beating up their teenage son. A lot of good that scrap of paper did for her and her son...

Obviously not into water sports. I suspect there are lots of people on FR who used to own a comparable number of firearms . . . until boating became popular five years ago.

How many lives could have been saved if there were a one firearm limit?

This isn’t very far from my neck of the woods. While having 50 firearms would be considered a well above average amount for these parts, it isn’t at all surprising to hear of it. I’d say most homes around here have in the neighborhood of 1 - 5 firearms in them. I think we have around 12.(I’d have to get into the safe and count them)

I once knew an older guy that had 87 guns in his home. He was a collector. Most of them were ‘Fudd Guns’, and guns no one would ever want to fire, because of the value of them. His most valuable was a VERY old Beretta shotgun(it was just stunning to look at). I believe he said that thing was worth more than his house and truck. It probably belonged in a museum somewhere.

Yeah, I believe they have been a family business since the 1600s(?). I’m not sure. I have a 92F, and it has to have the best feel to it(for me) of all semi-auto handguns. They just fit in the hand perfectly, and have a great balance to them regarding their weight.

PS: According to their website, they’ve been a family business since 1526. Wow.... That’s A LOT of history!

Only thing wrong at that crime scene is that the last gunshot victim should have been the first -- which would have also made him the last.

(Meanwhile the 50+ other guns sat quietly by, and did nothing...)
