As reports are coming in that Russia has placed 2,000 troops in Crimea, within the borders of Ukraine, President Obama said that the United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine.
Charles Krauthammer responded on Special Report tonight saying, The Ukrainians, and I think everybody, is shocked by the weakness of Obamas statement. I find it rather staggering.
[snip]
What hes saying is were not really going to do anything and were telling the world, Krauthammer said.
Its not our problem.
And now our adversaries around the world are lining up to make their moves. We will be the ones to “pay a cost”, not them.
Its not our problem.
*********
Agree, but the president’s incompetence and fecklessness is our problem. The rest of the world is watching this clown and taking note. And its eventually going to lead to something tragic down the road.
Hoorah for Obama. Let the EU take this one. We’re broke. Ya think we should raise taxes and the draft to take on Russia. People everywhere are starting revolutions and want us to bail them out. What a crock. Cancel all war trip wires or we’re screwed.
Obama is going to give Putin a good glaring at.
And yet he sits there week after week speaking about this cretin as a President and one worthy of consideration of such. People get banned or censored all the time when they call this imposter what he is, but that does not change the truth.
It is time our so-called pundits, those that are ostensibly on our side start condemning him for what he is and stop giving him legitimacy. Creased pants my ass.
To be honest, what President would?
It’s a simple question of whether you are willing to go to war with the largest nation on Earth with nukes to protect a peninsula.
We didnt do it with Georgia, we sure as hell wont be doing it here.
I imagine that our little queen Obama has a crush on the manly Putin for being so commanding in the Ukraine.
American Isolationism as a foreign policy does not work, just ask the Vets of Pearl Harbour.
Actually, it is. US one of the guarantors of Ukraine’s safety according to nuclear disarmament treaty.
Nothing we can do about it anyway.
Its one of those situations where diplomacy was required before it started and our current administration is dedicated to chaos.
We didnt do it for any of the Eastern Bloc nations, and Polish freedom was the reason why WW2 started!
This was supposed to be a game of chess. We move our pieces to strong positions as a deterrent to Russia. When we just move them wherever, take pieces off the board, and act like we don’t care (like with Obama), then that’s when Russia sees their opening.
It will become our problem - like ignoring cancer until it is metastatic. A spine from our leadership would have gone a long way to delay/avoid this situation.
Obama is so weak. Why can’t Republican beat him? Oh yeah, Bohner
Maybe..maybe not. The Ruskies are asserting their own "Monroe Doctrine" while our Monroe Doctrine is withering on the vine in the face of Russian warships in Cuba, Iranian warships in our territorial waters, the Russians seeking seaport agreements in South and Central America and around the world in general even two bit nations are telling the USA to shove it. That reset button wasn't connected to anything I guess.
And, importantly, if it hasn't happened already, some expert in the news will figure out that Mister Obama's weakness on the Ukraine just might further embolden other countries that don't particularly like us.
Projecting weakness always brings out the international creeps and thugs, n'est ce pas?
