Sarah Palin Warned in 2008 Russia Might Invade Ukraine if Obama Wins Election
Townhall.com ^ | March 1, 2014 | Christine Rousselle

In October 2008, then-Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin warned that Putin, having been motivated by Obama's lack of response to the Russian invasion of Georgia, would proceed to invade Ukraine if then-Senator Obama was elected to the presidency.

After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next.

Foreign Policy dismissed this warning as "strange" and "far-fetched."

As we've said before, this is an extremely far-fetched scenario. And given how Russia has been able to unsettle Ukraine's pro-Western government without firing a shot, I don't see why violence would be necessary to bring Kiev to heel.

Yesterday, Russia invaded the Crimean peninsula of Ukraine and seized control of two airports.

Seems as though Palin's prediction wasn't too far-fetched after all.

Seriously? Please name all your accomplishments, so that we may compare them to Gov. Palin’s and see who the true imbecile is here.

Palin has said many things that she was criticized for that were later shown to be true.

However, the MSM and the left defined her with assistance from the McCain campaign and that definition stuck. I believe this says more about our country and our collective lack of reason than it does about Sarah. It’s not just Sarah - there are a host of issues where it is extremely difficult to change the opinions of people despite evidence to the contrary. See global warming for example.

It’s unfortunate for Sarah and those of us who like her. The same people who ignored the lack of foreign policy for the freshman Senator from Illinois are the ones that crucified Palin and created false truths such as seeing Russia.

They will destroy any threat such as Palin or Dr. Carson.

What she really said is that Obama’s weakness in the Georgia would telegraph to Putin could invade Ukraine without worrying about the spineless one in the WH. She was right.

Oh, it says a lot about our country alright.

One of the reasons I’ve come to truly believe America no longer has a future.

What looks profound is that, 5-6 years ago, she named the Ukraine as the location of Putin’s adventure. There were lots of places Putin could have projected Russian power, but she knew he would pick the Ukraine. Why there? It was obvious to her because she understands the oil industry, which is a great big hole in the skill sets of the current occupiers of the White Hut.

Unlike Iraq and every other thing Bush was involved in, this business in the Ukraine is really about oil.

If Sarah Palin would just be kind enough to show Juan McQueeg the back of her shoes, she’d be perfect.

Good afternoon.

No, not exactly. This Ukraine business is much more than natural gas, pipelines, etc.. No, you've got hatred between the tribes (so to speak). Real nasty stuff. Ukraine people don't forget their history with the Bear.

Ukraine was Occupied by Putin... now Putin is waging a counter to the counter occupation. Basically Sarah was being modest in her assessment, but truth is a grey terror occupation factor in favor of Putin.

I live in a town with a lot of Croatians and I can tell you, Slavic people can hold a grudge forever. The hatred of Russians by Ukrainians will last a thousand years, if it hasn’t already.

To be perfectly honest, I want to see Senator Cruz become Senate Majority Leader.

I would love to see a ticket the has both Sarah Palin and retired Marine Corps General James Mattis on it.

PS: I would also LOVE to see John Bolton as Secretary of State and Allen West as SecDef.

she has an natural understanding of geopolitics..but that comes from living outside in the environment understanding how geography dictate action ...famous falsehood of I can see Russia from my house was actually a geopolitical statement on her part about Alaska having common maritime border Russia and dealing with those realities as governor

"If Sarah Palin would just be kind enough to show Juan McQueeg the back of her shoes, she’d be perfect."

It's called loyalty and it's in the dictionary. I understand it is hard to see, because almost no other politician in the world has even one iota of it.

Swell. She shows loyalty to the worst example of it in modern times, but not to the workerbees who dig the trenches. I’m learning, but it’s not what you would like.

You might want to take a little snark off the top, it makes you look like a cult follower. That’s what’s in my dictionary. You should get one like mine, but I understand if you aren’t up to it.

Too bad, I was starting to warm up to her again, and then...you came along to remind me why I’m pissed. That’s what I love about cultists.
