During the Olympics, I wrote that after the concluding ceremonies, Russia would move into Ukraine.

Putin, in my view is trying to reestablish the former Soviet Union.

Given the effeminate, metrosexual POTUS we have, Putin knows he can get away with anything. He is now working toward establishing military bases in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua.

No one ever acted against Reagan, once they took his measure.

One thing we can all be certain of, whatever the outcome in the Ukraine, the current occupant in the White House will act or fail to act in order to inflict the maximum harm to American interests.

Jim,

To understand what is going on here one must know that it wasn't a trade pact, but an Accession Ageement. It contained a lot more than trade; energy policy, security and military cooperation between the EU and Ukraine etc.

See here and here.

From Russia's point of view a trade agreement between Ukraine and the EU would have been bad enough but this was just much worse. I do not imply that what Putin has done (is doing) is correct, but given the scope of the agreement one would have expected the EU foreign ministers, Obama and Kerry to have understood how important this would be for the Russians and acted accordingly.

Sorry, the latter was a bad joke.

In dangerous times we end up with a lawless Marxist as President...God help us.

In this corner we have Barack "Yapping Fool" Obama, and in this corner, the challenger, Vladimir "The Tiger" Putin.

You can bet other nations in the region have also taken Obama’s measure.

There is nothing we can do. Obama is in the Whitey Hut. Liberals and left wing anti military nuts control the government. Lets just hope that China doesn’t get involved. Taiwan would be the first to go then Japan while we stand by worrying about income inequality.

We should bear in mind that Russia has been willing to protect ethnic Russians, Russian nationals and or former Soviet regions that were separated from the Motherland...

What a novel idea, maybe Obama should try it for Americans, on the Mexican border, for a start.

Exactly who will stop Putin? Our Fearless Leader can't even spare the time to be briefed on the matter. NATO has neither the will nor the resources necessary to project power to the Crimean peninsula, and the EU isn't going to stop purchasing Russian energy. Putin holds all the cards except for one: his pipelines are vulnerable to a prolonged campaign of sabotage and civil disobedience. That's not much, but it's something.

It's unlikely Russian tanks will drive into Ukraine proper UNLESS the Ukrainians resist militarily the Russian para-military incorporation of the historic Russian Empire.

We can expect pro-Russian uprisings throughout the regions east of the Dnieper river, Crimea...and along the southern coast of Ukraine, though Odessa. We might even see a continuous bloc of pro-Russian "governments reaching all the way to "Trinisteria" near Romania.

But I suspect they'll be done by then.

After all, who wants to take on the BASKET CASE of the "Balkanized" Western Ukraine? Nobody wants that, not even the Russians.

They'd be happy to see the EU take that on.

Since Yanukovich took office in 2010 following a perfectly legitimate election, who is actually behind his removal from office? It certainly isn't the Russians......

When you remember the report of CNN's Eason Jordan, who admitted that for a decade the network had censored the attrocities that were occuring in Iraq under Hussein, one has to wonder if what we are reading about the Ukraine is not more propaganda by our own MSM in order to further this administration's agenda.........

I'm open to suggestions.........

Now some are trying to use a tiny radical movement as justification for partitioning of the entire country. As if we didn’t witness a huge movement in Kiev and it’s Parliament to oust the dictator.
