RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) Crooks in Rancho Cucamonga are paying for Girl Scout cookies with counterfeit cash.
Two high school sophomores, Katelyn and Tari, were selling cookies Saturday in front of a Stater Brothers when they took in two seemingly legitimate $50 bills from a man and a woman.
When they tried to break one of the $50 bills, a cashier told them the cash was fake.
Troop leader Cheryl Williams was stunned.
Even though we had the counterfeit pen, the pen did not work. It showed that it was a good bill, she said.
Also on Saturday, a mother at another cookie booth at a Vons in Rancho Cucamonga was given two phony $50 bills.
Its just unfortunate because our girls are trying to trust people, the woman, who wanted to remain nameless, said.
On Monday, Teresa McMahon, a spokesperson with the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department, held a lesson on how to spot fake cash for the Girl Scout troops.
Parents were also given a handout.
The difference is that if you look at the faces, theyre all the same here, and here you can actually tell by the shapes of their faces that theyre completely different, McMahon said.
The Girl Scouts are chalking up this weekends event as a life lesson in funny money.
When you do put yourself out there, you are always going to have to double check, Tari said.
perfect. Artificial cookies paid for with artificial money.
(The Girls scouts are a lesbian front group and are no longer safe for our children)
Life lessons...What do they think the pens were for...It didn’t work?? Yeh right...
They should learn to question authority, such as the leadership of the GSUSA.
I've been teaching my daughters NOT to trust in people....but to trust in God.
Kind of a three dollar bill problem.
Phony Money for what is now phony program thanks to the LGBTs and the Abortionists.
Blake, Adam and Ders have alibis?
i think they used the pens, but the pens did not show the bills to be counterfeit... the best way to learn to spot counterfeit money is to spend a lot of time with the real thing... handling, touching, seeing, feeling it...
I declined buying their cookies so as not to support the homosexual agenda and their connection to PPH...
Sweet justice.
... and bathing in it. (That one’s my favorite)
They SAID they used the pen. You really believe them?
Maybe it was a counterfeit counterfeit pen...
Well, gee, that's the problem right there, it was a counterfeit pen. Next time buy a real one.
“i think they used the pens, but the pens did not show the bills to be counterfeit... the best way to learn to spot counterfeit money is to spend a lot of time with the real thing... handling, touching, seeing, feeling it... “
One method I read about that counterfeiters use is to take $1 bill, bleach them and then print the counterfeit money over it. Something like that might defeat the counterfeit pen test.
"I would like to buy all your Thin Mints and Samoas, please."
That’s one of the few boycotts I feel like I’m actually participating in. Most of the companies I boycott don’t sell anything I want anyway. If they do, I can usually find an acceptable substitute.
GS cookies are different. I really like them, and can’t find a good substitute. Hostess used to make some cookies that were exactly like GS Thin Mint Cookies, except they were square and bigger. I’m still hoarding the ones I bought at the Merita bread store when they went out of business. I don’t know what I’ll do when they run out.
I wonder if that’s what happened to these counterfeiters. Couldn’t live another day without the cookies, but couldn’t bring themselves to break the boycott. Put me on the jury, and I will consider that a mitigating factor.
An equal trade IMHO......................
Karma....
