"On November 21, 1998, appellant purchased large bags from an Academy store. A week later, he and his accomplices drove two vans to Alejandro's studio. Appellant and one accomplice carried concealed knives. The three had made an appointment at the studio and spent about two hours there while Alejandro recorded their music before they decided it was time to kill him.
Appellant slashed Alejandro's throat from ear to ear, but did not kill him. Appellant and one accomplice continued to attack Alejandro until he died as a result of multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen. Appellant covered the body with a sheet taken earlier from appellant's bed, and the group began loading equipment into the vans. Appellant fled on foot when an off-duty police officer arrived to investigate the scene, but was apprehended days later outside his home.
On December 2, 1998, appellant confessed to police that he had planned the crime and recruited two accomplices. His confession describes events in detail that were later corroborated by appellant's girlfriend, Christina Breton, police officers, security guards, and physical evidence discovered by investigators. Breton testified that several days before the commission of the crime, appellant had told her about his plan to steal Alejandro's equipment and kill him.
During the punishment phase of the trial, the State introduced evidence of appellant's criminal history and bad acts, beginning at age fifteen, including offenses and bad acts such as theft of a bicycle, drug possession, attempted burglary, and an incident of violence against an off-duty police officer.
I’d say it’s worse than plain ol’ slavery.
So?
Boo Frickin’ Hoo.
Dang, but he’s wordy! To be fair, quite eloquent in stretches.
What I was looking for was some reason he would claim his death sentence was unjust. He does claim he didn’t personally kill the guy, but that he was convicted under the “Law of Parties,” if that is indeed the right term.
But that’s not what the Appeals Court said:
“On November 21, 1998, appellant purchased large bags from an Academy store. A week later, he and his accomplices drove two vans to Alejandro’s studio. Appellant and one accomplice carried concealed knives. The three had made an appointment at the studio and spent about two hours there while Alejandro recorded their music before they decided it was time to kill him. If the guy has any right at all to claim he didn’t actually kill the victim, it is presumably based on the theory that even though he slit his throat, that didn’t immediately kill him and others also participated in the killing. The problem is that according to the Court, he planned the attack, recruited accomplices and initiated the violence. IOW, he was the ringleader, making him fully guilty even if he had never touched the victim personally.
Y’all will excuse me if I don’t consider that a particularly valid reason not to fry his ass.
Hey, slavery beats being dead like your victim. No, slaves have to work. You’ve been kicked back relaxing for the past dozen or so years doing nothing but watching cable tv, access to all the books you’d ever want to read, a gym, eating three squares, free rent, getting the finest health and dental care.
The 13th Amendment abolishes slavery, and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime.
The last I heard, you committed a crime or you wouldn’t be on Death Row.
Jasper...”don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time.”
Or Norway. Anders Behring Breivik killed 77 people and was given 21 years, the max sentence.
Though it can be extended 5 years at a time at the court’s discretion.
Was Jasper alive when slavery was still popular, if not, how would he know?
He should win the Academy Award for best picture.
Slaves didn’t get hot meals delivered to them three times a day. They didn’t get free bedding, or free clothing. Nor did they have their laundry done for them. They didn’t get free medical care if they had a fart twisted. They also didn’t get visits and packages from family and friends who lived off the plantation. And they sure didn’t get free postage, phone calls, or cable TV. Keep whining a$$hole. Your time is almost up.
“Jasper, who was a young rap artist at the time....”
SHOCKING!
Putting that aside; Ever get around to thinking about the Man you stole from God's Creation, Jasper? The Human Being you dispatched to his Judgment before he'd fulfilled his destiny, what ever that was? Doesn't sound like it, Jasper. Sounds like you're still the self pitying crybaby you were raised to be in a culture that prizes Victimhood like it is a sacrament. What were your victim's last words, Jasper? Did HE have a chance to get straight with God before you slaughtered him? Ever think about THAT, Jasper?
He doesn't need to own one. All the dip$hit has to do is borrow one from the prison library. If he can read and write, he's certainly not a slave.
Prison is like earned slavery. He wants to be free, free to do what he wants... to you.
I thought he was Amish until I clicked on the link and viewed his picture.
