NASA now acknowledges what NBC Bay Area's Investigative Team first uncovered last year--that the government agency has been effectively giving a price break on jet fuel to a private company.

Use of Moffet field for general aviation was fought for by CRAMP and AOPA back in the early 90's.
NASA fought back by vilifying General Aviation at every step of the way. The city of Sunnyvale and Mountain View routinely attacked GA pilots and airplanes as "dangerous amateurs" who would "crash into school yards".
Thus was GA forced to Reid-Hillview - where Santa Clara County did every thing they could to prevent renovation of the facility - and to South County airport, where it's actually not too bad. They did let them build some hangars.
And then along come a couple of corrupt little twits like Larry Page and Sergey Brin (he's Russian, so the corruption thing comes naturally). Not only are they flying Big Bad Eeevil Noisy Smoky Scary JETS (not C-172s), they want the taxpayers to subsidize them.
And NASA rolls right over for it.
BTW, the other people who get to use a U.S. "Federal" airfield?
The Russian cargo company Volga-Dneiper.
