The Soros Factor (2004 events current Heroin epidemic)
NY Sun ^ | 12/20/2004 | William F. Hammond Jr.

2004-The billionaire political impresario George Soros gambled $27 million on the campaign to defeat President Bush and came up empty-handed. But no one should conclude that he has lost his eye for a winning investment. The smaller wagers that he and his family have placed on New York politics appear to be paying off in spades. After years of debate, state lawmakers just agreed to reduce the penalties for drug crimes in New York, which have been among the stiffest in the country. In Albany County, voters just elected a maverick district attorney who is promising to go easier on drug addicts and keep a sharper eye on corruption at the state Capitol. In the Legislature, leaders of both houses are pledging to change the way they do business after two decades of late budgets and legislative gridlock. And in the state Senate, Democrats are threatening to take control for the first time since 1965. A common factor in all of these developments is Soros money. With millions of dollars in strategically placed grants and political contributions, the Soros family is quietly reshaping the state. Nothing illustrates their impact better than the campaign to soften New York's anti-drug laws. …….Of the many activist groups that campaigned for these changes, none played a more pivotal role than the Drug Policy Alliance, a New York City-based group founded and largely financed by Mr. Soros and his Open Society Institute…

Wonder we we have this sudden, and very quiet surge of heroin deaths? There was no heroin when I was growing up in Miami in the 80's. What happened NY in 2004 is happening around the country.

It is hard to imagine that a father of 4 children could be so evil. If there is any doubt of a major drug usage push in our culture, "Methadone Man" was created by Soros for your children. No joke.

Soros has spent his entire life making money by hurting people, and he’s made A LOT of money.

1997: http://www.fmr.no/george-soros-agenda-for-drug-legalization-death-and-welfare.78404-10285.html

Described by the New York Times as “The world’s single largest donor” (Dec. 17,1996), Soros uses his philanthropy to change - or more accurately deconstruct - the moral values and attitudes of the Western world, and particularly of the American people. While others give to the arts and higher education or to better the quality of the lives of their fellow men, Soros funds campaigns for euthanasia and to legalize illegal drugs.

Rachel Ehrenfeld, Author, New York, USA

“I am sort of deus ex machina- I am something unnatural,” George Soros says of himself.

Drug Legalization
The May 1996 issue of Organization Trends reviewed Soros’ extensive financial support for nonprofit organizations working for the legalization of drugs. Soros says that his overarching goal is to promote informed discussion of drug policy. But debate and discussion are not his objects. Instead, he is using his philanthropy to muddle public opinion and to change public laws to make illegal drug use legal.

According to Soros, “the war on drugs is doing, more harm to our society than drug abuse itself,” and since “substance abuse is endemic in most societies... the war on drugs cannot be won.” (See Washington Post, Dec. 4, 1996 and Feb. 2, 1997). Because prohibitionist drug policies contradict his vision of “The Open Society,” Soros concludes that they are wrong, and be has launched a vast public relations campaign that has made him the new darling of the media Left. Soros and his acolytes have garnered enormous press attention through a barrage of magazine articles, op-ed pieces, and television appearances.

Three years of spending millions of dollars on a campaign to legalize drugs is finally producing results. The terminology of drug “medicalization” has joined “legalization” and talk about the so-called “non-violent drug offender” in the lexicon of public dialogue. Drugs continue to wreak murder, violence, and mayhem in homes and streets all over America. But the White House’s policy of divorcing drugs from crime is what Soros promotes. This notion has gone unchallenged and is embraced by the media.

With the canniness of an aggressive businessman, George Soros has assembled, advised and financed a management team to overcome the common sense of the American public. By constant reference to safe use or use to relieve suffering, these promoters are succeeding in making use of illicit drugs appear to be acceptable conduct.

Soros is evil. However, the primary reason for heroin deaths is the massive increase in use that has been fueled by people addicted to pain pills (opiates) and the aggressive business model used by Mexican drug cartels who have taken over North America distribution with Mexican produced heroin using their existing network.

The more addicts the more dealers. The more dealers the more morons who don’t know what they are doing who try to “cut” the product to increase their profits (and usually feed their own addiction). That is why the fentanyl addition to heroin is killing people. Heroin is a risky drug, but the Mexican drug trafficking organizations use quality control because it’s good business. Street level dealers? Not much quality control as they try to stretch profits.

I am still waiting to see if Krokodil becomes a rampage. Don’t worry though.... obamacare will cover it.

There was no heroin around when I was growing up in the 80’s. I grew up in Miami where there are ports galore. Lack of Pharmaceutical drugs is wrong, those are their talking points. Heroin is available and cheap. In this case, it is supply and demand.

Most of the Heroin is manufactured in Bhurma (China).

Soros didn’t put that much effort into buying a president and eliminating the war on drugs for nothing.

The heroin epidemic is not on the scale of those in the 1990’s and 1970’s.

Mexico is now the #2 producer of heroin behind Afghanistan and ahead of the other historical producers and the production is Mexico is still growing far faster than the others. At the present rate, they will become the #1 producer in a few years. The vast majority of heroin in the U.S. comes from Mexico with a little from Columbia. I am certain of that and the Mexican heroin is far cheaper than Asian heroin so their market share continues to increase.

I believe poppy production is still led by Afghanistan, followed by the Golden Triangle, Mexico, and Pakistan. Not all poppies become heroin.

Feel free to find a different source, but I am basing this on a Stratfor article I read some time back. I think the actual numbers are estimates and they may vary, but Stratfor is usually very accurate.

Based on price and availability with the growing abuse it is possible heroin will soon become the #1 illegal drug in the United States and I would bet 90% of it will be controlled by Mexican Cartels.

It will be soon. Much of the current opiate abuse is masked by people abusing prescription pain medication. The illicit trafficking of pain pills is big business and abusers of opiates often end up on heroin when it’s more available and cheaper than pills.

Zohydro, a new opiate formulation, is just coming on the market and it is even more powerful than oxycontin and it has none of the abuse safeguards that stop people from injecting or snorting it. Will see how that affects the marketplace of legal and illegal opiates.

It is hard to imagine that a father of 4 children could be so evil.

Bin Laden had at least 20 kids.

Even evil has loved ones.

“...t is hard to imagine that a father of 4 children could be so evil....”

Hard to imagine that 50+ million women could be convinced to murder their children before they were even allowed to be BORN, since Roe v Wade.

Arguably, the SECOND most powerful human instinct following self-preservation is a mother’s instinct to protect her child...

Somewhere, the left managed to convince would-be mothers that it’s OK to murder their own children.

Satan’s greatest victory was convincing human beings that he doesn’t exist.

And women murdering their own unborn infants is about as clear an indicator of that as anything.

Nothing surprises me, brother... not one damn thing.
