NEW YORK (AP) - Joe McGinniss, the adventurous and news-making author and reporter who skewered the marketing of Richard Nixon in “The Selling of the President 1968” and tracked his personal journey from sympathizer to scourge of convicted killer Jeffrey MacDonald in the blockbuster “Fatal Vision,” died Monday at age 71.

As a prime example of his total lack of ethics, anyone recall the bit about his attempt to tie Sarah Palin’s father to some pedophile teacher at a school where they both worked? No connection whatsoever, but his documented attempt to utilize it as yet another subject to smear the Palin name told everything one needed to know about what a thorough and dishonest sleaze he was.
