USA should care except our Treasury is near bankrupt, so we should stay out of all foreign conflicts until our country is out of near bankruptcy.

That’s about it in a nutshell.

There’s another aspect too: Crimea contains Sevastopol, Russia’s only warm water port. It is a huge strategic issue for the Russians. The Russians are not going to give up Crimea easily, if ever.

People who think that the Russians will give up Crimea based on some western agreement should ponder: “Would the US give up the USN base at San Diego (including the SEAL training grounds at Coronado Island) to Mexico if suddenly Mexican nationalists tried to re-claim California as their own?”

No way. No friggin’ way. We’d go to war with Mexico over such an issue, just as the Russians are over Crimea.

True, but there are alternatives to open warfare, let's not forget. We would be fools to "not care" about what happens elsewhere in the world.
