A new poll of registered Georgia Republican primary voters shows businessman David Perdue leading his fellow GOP candidates for the U.S. Senate, with congressman Jack Kingston in second. Perdue gets 29 percent support, according to the Survey USA poll, while Kingston gets 19 percent. Three other candidates are effectively tied for third: congressman Phil Gingrey (12 percent), congressman Paul Broun (11 percent), and former secretary of state Karen Handel (10 percent).

This race seems to be breaking open. I’m supposing that Perdue is well-funded, as I know nothing about him other than being related to a former Governor. Jack Kingston brings the asset of a south Georgia base, which is not reliably Republican, and rural appeal.

I’m guessing Perdue is ahead at this point solely because of name ID. When I saw the headline, I thought Sonny Perdue was running. How is David related to Sonny?

Ugh, from what I’ve heard, Kingston and Perdue are AWFUL! We’re going to be stuck with another Taxby Chambliss!

This poll does not jibe with the others I’ve seen which shows the total opposite, with Perdue & Kingston near the bottom. If this is merely a “registered voters” poll, it can be dismissed out of hand.

Iam kinda worried about this race. We have three veteran congressmen who have spent 40 years in congress (total) and never distinguished themselves. They are for the most part conservative and Broun and Gingery are very conservaative. The bad part is that they re being compared to Todd Akin instead of Ted Cruz. That worried me because the Dem is a bright young lady with a famous name. I don't know anything about Perdue except that he is an executive of a dollar store chain which may mean he has a vested interest in flooding the country with immigrants etc.

The poll results ring true tome because of the stories of the Dem's chopping their lips to run against Broun and Gingery. I think some of the bad candidates we have run in the last two cycles have made GOP voters skittish of tea party candidates. They don't see Rand Paul or Ted Cruz or Ron Johnson and the MSM points out the disasters.

That being said I am noticing a lot of Broun signs around when I drive through some of the neighborhoods around Gwinnett county.

Her name is the only thing she’s running on. She refuses to answer any questions which might make her look like she supports obamacare.

“Her name is the only thing she’s running on.”

Kennedy,Taft,Bayh,Cuomo, Pryor,Brown you see it again and again. Famous names do defnitely matter quite abit. We undrestimate her and that name at our peril.

Crikes Kingston and Purdeue. Might as well keep Saxby. I saw another poll that shows Paul Brouon in the lead so hopefully its true. Name recognition is whats going on right now. It will ebb and flow before May 20th

I’m not underestimating her at all. After all, what does she have to do to get the votes? Name and a D after it will do the trick for those low info voters.

As last week, she refused to take a position on the Port of Savannah and is now ducking questions about the Second Amendment.

http://www.gop.com/news/gop-blog/michelle-nunns-stonewall/

It seems to me she will struggle to ever get 50% to avoid a high information runoff election.

Nunn: “Nunn didn’t say what she thinks the holdup on the funding is. ‘I can’t evaluate what’s at play,’ she told reporters. ‘All I know is people need to work together. People need to sit down and talk and focus on solutions.’”

So the reason that Pelosi and Broun can’t agree is because they won’t sit down and talk to eachother.

I am not from Georgia, but I know Broun’s record, and he, IMO, would be ya’lls best bet!

First cousins or Milton Wolf type “cousin” where he’s distantly related and never met him?

So far I’m liking what i hear from Perdue the most. He’s also never held public office anywhere which is a plus in my book for someone headed to a cesspool like the senate.

I can tell people straight-off that Handel won’t make it. Too much baggage. Broun has inadvertently ticked off a lot of corporate leadership in GA too. Perdue has been referred to at my workplace as “a man we can do business with”. Take that for what it’s worth.
