California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein is circulating a letter on Capitol Hill calling once again for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and asking for President Barack Obama to keep his State of the Union promise to make 2014 a “year of action.”
Citing the Gun Control Act of 1968, Feinstein states, “In recent years… importers of firearms have taken advantage of ATF’s interpretation of the ‘sporting purposes’ test to evade the import ban.”

She forgot to mention how those guns got to Mexico. Shout out to Eric Holder!!! ha ha
Congress has the ppwer to repeal the portion of the 1968 GCA that authorizes the AG to ban from reimportation.
We need to start pressing congressmen to do as such. The abuse of the Obama administration in applying it towards the M1 should have been an impetus for action.

For those who don’t remember those days of HELL gun owners went through, after the murder of John Kennedy, the news media went on a rampage to ban the most evil firearms in the world! The 5 shot bolt action army surplus rifle and the “Saturday Night Special!”
Every few weeks the newspapers carried the horror stories about the need to register and ban these firearms.
Then Bobby Kennedy was murdered with a handgun made in the USA. The media went berserk. The politicians rushed in the 1968 Gun Control Law.
It banned the import of Army surplus rifles and “Saturday Night Specials, but did not ban the USA made rifles or handguns.

M-98 Mauser Police rifle=GOOD and allowed to import even though it is the same rifle.
RG=10 pistols, EVIL and Banned. (so they started assembling them in the USA.)

The firearms Feinstein wants to ban were considered Sporting rifles until the anti-gunners saw an opportunity to go for them. G H W Bush did ban some of them in his term, so we might say it is still “Bush’s Fault”.
Now, in the early 1970s, the anti handgunners discovered the Miller Decision of the SCOTUS. For several years many TV programs had anti-handgun scripts in which rifles were the “protected” firearm, but handguns not protected.
Even the show ALL IN THE FAMILY followed this script.
In 1981, actress Lee Grant was on GMA and declared “The NRA is a RIFLE organization! They should give up their handguns and they can keep their rifles!”
About 1985 the anti-gunners saw an opportunity to go after rifles and they haven’’t stopped since.

LOL! Nicely done but you forget that in order to adhere to these statements, those individuals would have to accept the constitution as the controlling document which they do not. Facts be damned. Especially since this document was written by a bunch of old hater white slave owner dudes. ;>}
