The Obama administration has decided to give extra time to Americans who say that they are unable to enroll in health-care plans through the federal insurance marketplace by the March 31 deadline.
Federal officials confirmed Tuesday evening that all consumers who have begun to apply for coverage on HealthCare.gov, but who do not finish by Monday, will have until about mid-April to ask for an extension.
Under the new rules, people will be able to qualify for an extension by checking a blue box on HealthCare.gov to indicate that they tried to enroll before the deadline. This method will rely on an honor system; the government will not try to determine whether the person is telling the truth.
The rules, which will apply to the federal exchanges operating in three dozen states, will essentially create a large loophole even as White House officials have repeatedly said that the March 31 deadline was firm. . .

* the law as written
* the law as interpreted at the time action was taken
* the law as interpreted that day
* the ruling the judge thinks the administration would like to see in the headlines tomorrow?
The stupidity of this administration is boundless.
HHS is going to reveal how many PAID enrollees in just 24 business hours.
They should make tax day just so we can celebrate two wonderful things from the federal government.
I'd bet not. They'll either waffle or lie through their teeth, but they are not going to tell us the truth.

It will be interesting to see how many screwy ways citizens tried to maneuver around this insanity by next April 15th. Health insurance as well as the IRS are going to be a mess.

I read somewhere that with ObozoCare being a tax, it can change on the whim. Think about how our tax code changes all the time, without amendments, congressional review, etc.
People who signed up by the deadline should sue that their equal protection is being violated by allowing those who broke the law of the land to get off repeatedly, while those who complied with the law are being punished by the continued confiscation of their property, that is, their wages.
