Malaysia says there's sealed evidence on MH370 that cannot be made public
Straits Times China Bureau ^ | 03/26/2014 | Straits Times China Bureau

Posted on 03/27/2014 1:45:27 PM PDT by Responsibility2nd

BEIJING - A Malaysian team have told relatives of Chinese passengers on board the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 that there was sealed evidence that cannot be made public, as they came under fire from the angry relatives at a briefing on Wednesday.

The sealed evidence included air traffic control radio transcript, radar data and airport security recordings.

The briefing at the Metropark Lido Hotel in Beijing focused on UK satellite analysis which led Malaysia to conclude that flight MH370 ended in south Indian Ocean, off Perth.

The Chinese relatives were told that a five-member high-level team from Malaysia plans to brief them once every five days. The team include MAS pilot Lim Jit Koon and senior civil aviation official Ahmad Nizar Zolfakar.

During the question-and-answer session, a relative said: "Thanks for demonstrating your ability to read every word out of the powerpoint slides."

Another asked: "If the info is from UK satellite firm Inmarsat, does it mean the Malaysia team cannot answer our questions on the MH370 analysis?"

Faced with the barrage of questions from the angry relatives, the MAS team replied: "We can answer but we might not be correct as we're not the investigators":

They said Malaysia had requested for the British experts to join them for the briefing in Beijing but the latter declined.

They assured the relatives that the search and rescue operations for the plane have been stepped up but the hunt has been challenging as the search area is huge.

The Malaysian government and MAS have been criticised for their handling of the disappearance of MH370 on March 8. They have been accused of being slow in disseminating information and not revealing everything about the incident.

Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Monday night that based on latest UK data analysis, the plane had gone down in a remote part of the southern Indian Ocean.

"We demand you retract announcement that MH370 ended in south Indian Ocean and continue search-and-rescue operations,'' one relative said at the briefing.

Some family representatives targeted Malaysian envoy Iskandar Sarudin, asking him: "You expect us to accept a report you cannot defend?"

"No comment,'' said Mr Iskandar.

He again declined to comment when asked "how do you expect us to feel friendly towards Malaysia?"

Upset by the response from the Malaysia team, a relative said: "You have once again left us speechless!"

Wednesday's briefing was the first time the media were allowed to attend.

The relatives also accused MAS of not providing enough assistance to them.

"Two-thirds of MH370 passengers are Chinese but only 50 caregivers?" asked a relative.

An airline official explained that they have had problem finding volunteers to help out.

When asked why the MAS office at the hotel was closed on Tuesday, the MAS officials said they were advised by the Chinese government not to be there given the tense mood among the relatives.

That’s pretty much my take as well. It smelled like that from the beginning, actually. Anyone who has raised teenagers knows what it means when a story makes little or no sense.

Malaysia has been the big problem from the start. They’re probably feeling a little guilty about the Bali bombers, but they may also be having some internal problems that have complicated this.

I’m very sure that Islam was involved, one way or another, whether the co-pilot or the other flight engineer on board wanted to seize the flight and did so, or whether they didn’t manage to do so and crashed it in the ocean.

But Malaysia is not going to breathe a word about this.

On pilot incapacitation – Girish Kaushik

March 27, 2014

I have been following most of the television interviews of various experts of various experts of different channels, and am astonished that little or no importance has been given to the subject of pilot incapacitation.

It would be interesting to know, that, in my 40 years of flying experience including the 777, a great amount of emphasis has been given, especially during simulator sessions, on pilot incapacitation.

When the “flying” pilot is incapacitated, a procedure must be followed, wherein the “non flying “ one takes over. If both, the captain and first officer are incapacitated, it would be a different matter all together.

In my opinion, one possible explanation to this bizarre event that has taken place on MH370 would be that the batteries in the cargo compartment might have caught fire as theorised by many.

I agree, and I want to hear what the FBI finds in their analysis of the simulator hard drives. If they *can’t* figure out the deleted files, that tells us a lot, i.e. that the guy had to use some very sophisticated “wiping” software and must have had something to hide. I hope the FBI doesn’t wait for permission from the Malaysian clowns before releasing what thye find.

Malaysia will fight any ruling that it was murder by pilot every step of the way.

The 1997 crash of a Singaporean SilkAir jet was ruled by NTSB as pilot suicide taking 100 lives, but Singaporean authorities refuse to accept it.

The EgyptAir Flight 990 in 1999 was ruled co-pilot suicide by NTSB. Egyptian authorities, however, rejected that explanation.

No airlines want to believe their pilots are capable of this but all evidence points in that direction.

The Malaysian authorities are providing a text book worthy example of “How to generate and encourage conspiracy theories!” I can’t blame the relatives of the passengers for their justified anger and refusal to believe anything anyone tells them at this point. I can’t imagine going through such an emotional ordeal.

I could accept this...but, suppose a cargo fire developed, and burned into the passengers and the pilots area, did the fire stop burning, as the aircraft was still structurally sound to enable flight for 7 hours.... More likely an explosion, and decompression, incapacitated the crew.....

OK Sacajaweau, I’m going full Bourne.

Day before yesterday The Precedent made a remark about a nuke in Manhattan that startled some in the media by the remark’s apparent off the wall nature. (Why would he say such a thing they asked) Why indeed?

Was he letting the perpetrators know that by telegraphing that he knew there was a suitcase device aboard MH370? Did CIA or MI-5 know it was there and that it had to be buried in the Indian Ocean in very deep water. So was it CIA or MI-5 that took over the cockpit remotely or physically to save Manhattan or Beijing? Not a conspiracy theory mind you just a though; a random spark of an alcohol tempered ganglion.

Files can be easly overwritten with some simple, open source, software. Linux has the “shred” command; I have no idea what the Windows equivalent would be- but if the files were indeed overwritten then that would certainly point to ill intent on the part of the pilot.

If the Heading for Bejing was 18* N then a 180* reverse plot towards Kuala Lumpur course would be 198* S.
I would be one of those thinking that the pilots made the adjustments and then succumbed to smoke or decompression.
The plane would have then run into the area where they suspect the plane went down(out of fuel)?

Lithium Ion batteries are very energy dense long lasting batteries. They’re used in tons of things, most notably laptop computers. The problem isn’t so much that they combust, but if they are incorrectly made they can short out internally and become hot enough to start fires.

That whole nuke in Manhattan thing was because the heads of state were playing a video simulation of a nuclear terrorism attack. I don’t have a link but it was all over FR a few days ago. I think he was impressed by his own performance such that he actually thought he should be worried. Otherwise he might have just pulled it out of the air because it was so fresh in his mind. Nothing sinister there I’m afraid.

yes....ok, well there is no indication, that the aircraft headed back to KL....the proper procedure for an aircraft in trouble is to fly out of the air corridor,as other aircraft could be flying on the same track and then by turning 90 degrees to the track, and leave the air route....this what appears to have happened...the aircraft did turn 90 degrees and headed west...
