Race in America is set against the backdrop of horrible historic realities, minefields few want to cross -- just ask Representative Paul Ryan. But if we are ever to focus on children who, for no fault of their own, are often raised in environments where a stable father is missing, violence is predictable, education is eschewed, drugs are prevalent and dependency threatens freedom; we must stand up and speak facts before another generation of children are lost.
Racism is the normal explanation for the decline of the black family, but that analysis does not hold up. Thomas Sowell has shown that “the black family survived centuries of slavery and generations of Jim Crow where most black children grew up in homes with two parents.” In fact, “when blacks were just one generation out of slavery, the census data of that era showed that slightly higher percentage of black adults had married than had white adults.” One would be hard pressed to believe that race issues in America are bigger today they were in the past.
Still others look to socioeconomic discrepancies for difficulties within the black family. Again Sowell’s research shows that “the particular culture or ‘human capital’ available to a people has often had more influence on their economic level than their existing material wealth, natural resources, or individual geniuses.” Even factoring for economic differences and severe social disadvantages, examples of a vibrant black family institution in America’s are too numerous to ignore.

They were doing just fine before LBJ’s Great Society seized the property they owned and rented back to them Soviet style apartments that the government had to give them money to afford. Then the government started paying black women to have children, but only if they weren’t married. It started downhill from there.
When you raise children in single parent homes and the ‘culture’ you promote does not value hard work, marriage, education, and life affirming behavior then what do you expect.

The deterioration of the American black family, as well as all other ethnic groups, is a direct result of the implementation and expansion of federally mandated welfare pogroms crafted by leftist, progressive socialists as response to their own interpretation of the plights of those various ethnic groups.
It has really never been about helping anyone. It has ALWAYS been about the fundamental leftist belief that people are not capable of governing themselves or caring for themseleves; but, a few hundred elitists can rule hundreds of millions. It has ALWAYS been about CONTROL.

Indeed. The urban youth of the ‘60s learned to have contempt for the existing black society and to depend on collectivism to raise them up in the world. That meant their dissrepected fathers and grandfathers who had worked at lower jobs to raise them up proper. Work came to mean servitude.
Dimmacrats created the slave economy in the US. The Republican Lincoln freed them from the physical chains, but the dimmacrats still kept them in economic, educational and cultural slavery. Ninetyfive percent of today’s blacks do not comprehend that yet....

I agree that LBJ great society policies destroyed the black family.
And nothing correlates with bad outcomes as strongly as single parent families (not criticizing single moms, but odds are stacked against them).
Glamorizing “thug life” values is also big problem.
And the democrats who run the places they’re at have policies that destroy jobs.
Who is going to be most hurt by immigration reform?
Blacks.
Who is going to be hurt most by huge increases in the minimum wage?

IOW it is NOT economic, but rather cultural. Blacks are promiscuous. And violent, too. And corrupt too.

The acceleration of descent came with the destruction of racial pride--the trashing of "Grandma's" experience based words to her granddaughter, in both the White & Black communities, that was contemporaneous with the Great Society, that you refer to.
You can actually graph the effects statistically from these various mischievous influences. It is tragically demonstrable.

It’s the legacy of welfarism, years of envy, simmering militance, liberation brainwashing, gangs, gangsta’ rap, an irrational, insane, uncontrollable vengeance to get even. It is pop culture’s degradation of black culture, and the left cheering it on like it is a finger in white man’s face. It is decades of public housing and segregation in the name of fair housing and equal opportunity, as envisioned by the left. The important thing is what black people are going to do to correct their horrible situation as opposed to making it worse. Someday someone will have to correct it as a matter of survival.
The left’s motivation doesn’t matter. So what if they sought control or simply thought they were helping? What really matters is their policies are destroying communities, and I’m not only talking about minority ones.
I can’t even blame individuals from becoming dependent on the social welfare state. It’s not easy to do the right thing when one looks around and sees others prosper for doing wrong. It will end badly of course, but the system protects people from making bad choices in the short term.
When it does all come apart, who do you think will be better off? Will it be the welfare mom who is thoroughly dependent on the state or those of us who know how to do things for ourselves?
The exploitation of white guilt for the purposes of creating the Great Society became a way of absolution for the sin of racism. This loose vehicle for reparations made the purpose of the black father irrelevant. With the government, you ride first class. Feminism demonized the father as the cause of your 2nd class position. Liberalism gave the father reason to run from the responsibility of fatherhood. The Commies exploited the failure of the black family as a means to gain power. Hello Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton, you Marxist whores.
