Ryan unveils House GOP budget claiming balance (another Budget Resolution)

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan unveiled an updated Republican budget plan Tuesday that would slash $5.1 trillion in federal spending over coming decade and promises to balance the government's books with wide-ranging cuts in programs like food stamps and government-paid health care for the poor and working class.

Ryan's plan would also cut Pell Grants for low-income students and pensions for federal workers, while steering away from cuts to benefits for senior citizens, at least in the short term. The proposal would reprise a voucher-like Medicare program for future retirees that would be the basis for GOP claims that the measure would drive down government debt over the long term. It also relies on unofficial scorekeeping help from the Congressional Budget Office, reflecting the beneficial effects of deficit cuts on long-term economic growth and tax revenues. (clip)

At issue is the arcane congressional budget process, which employs a non-binding measure known as a budget resolution to set forth goals for future taxes, spending, and deficits. But follow-up legislation is usually limited to one-year appropriations bills rather than more difficult measure to deal with the government's long-term fiscal challenges, which are fueled by spiraling health care costs and the retirement of the baby boom generation

The issue isn’t balancing the budget, it’s CUTTING the $4 trillion government by at least 80% before America disappears.

RE :”Ryan sucks. He’s not even a RINO.”

This is a standard GOP Paul Ryan ritual started early 2011 ~ three years ago.

1) Ryan puts out his fantasy budget resolution:
its cuts all the poverty related programs(good luck with that) ,
keeps medicare spending full throttle for 10 years and then magically medicare goes away in 10 years.(problem solved)

2) House votes on it.

3) Dems complain about how ‘mean spirited’ it is.
4) We rally behind Ryan our hero because Dems are complaining..

Nothing happens. Same budget as always, maybe even more spending. No one convinced of anything.
(were those pension cuts ever repealed?)

If the Convention of states doesn't do it, then individual state nullification, refusal of federal funds, and severance from unconstitutional federal mandates can't be too far behind.

Does it include the standard ryan inadvertent mistakes.

If so not to worry they will be corrected later, worked so well the last time.

More BS, lies and smoke and mirrors and solves nothing. Just another government scam. Government grows, rules and regs increase and the corruption continues.

But it keeps getting cut in these Paul Ryan resolutions,

He is trying to show us that his heart is in the right place, even if spending goes up.

I think he is looking for a promotion in the house, next congress.

States want that federal $$$.

Yes a lot of them do. But what the Right in general and states in particular need to get a renewed vision of, is what proved Adam Smith right and made America prosperous in the first place: small government and the robust riches, wealth, and prosperity of the free market economy.

Some states like Texas show signs of willingness to severe federal funds for the free market. If any state would do that and rather let the free market run things with minimal government and taxes, it wouldn't be too long that you'd have that state more prosperous than the bankrupt federal government. If little, natural-resource poor Hong Kong can do it, any state can do it. It just takes guts and faith.
