Maybe Bailing on Immigration Reform Actually Worked Out Well for Republicans

In June 2013, a bipartisan group of senators (including presidential hopeful Marco Rubio) passed a comprehensive immigration reform bill that President Obama promised to sign. Since then, Republicans have worked hard to distance themselves from that bill — Rubio stopped talking about it altogether, and Speaker of the House John Boehner says he won't bring it to the House floor. Now many Latinos are so disillusioned that they don't want to vote at all, making Boehner and the gang's gamble all too worth it.

The New York Times noted Sunday that "immigrant-rights advocates report mounting disillusionment with both parties among Latinos, enough to threaten recent gains in voting participation that have reshaped politics to Democrats’ advantage nationally."

We need to go for “real” border control as soon as we have the votes to do it.

Yep, passing any amnesty would have got Dems (Obama) all the credit, and set the GOP off into civil war.

Rubio actually tried to suggest that Obama would hate that Senate amnesty bill so much that he might veto it.

In the back of my mind, I actually thought this might happen ... as long as the ‘Stupid Party’ didn’t screw it up ...

11, don’t you worry, the Stupid Party will still manage to grab defeat out of the jaws of victory. They want amnesty just as bad as Obama.

RE:”In the back of my mind, I actually thought this might happen ... as long as the ‘Stupid Party’ didn’t screw it up .”

Once we got into September it was pretty much over.

The budget, debt limit, the Obamacare rollover and all the endless Obama command orders delaying parts of it .

No incentive to strike a deal with Obama on a non-crisis item, one he would get all the credit for.

I think Boehner is waiting until after the primaries to bring it to the floor for a vote. It will pass with all the dems voting for it and about 18 traitor republicans. Boehner wants to pass it and he will ignore the Hastert rule just like he did with the debt ceiling bill.

Boehner is waiting until after the primaries because many republicans have asked him to wait. They want to campaign they are against amnesty while they win their respective primaries. Then after they win they will switch direction and come out for the immigration bill which Boehner says is not amnesty because illegals have to pay a fine and agree to learn English. Boehner is brain damaged likely from his alcoholism.

"immigrant-rights advocates report mounting disillusionment with both parties among Latinos"

For different reasons, but I guess now they're just like the rest of us - "disillusioned with both parties..."

Maybe, but I still haven’t forgotten the earlier stories about how Boner and other RINOs planned to lay low on amnesty for illegals until after all the Republican primaries.

Still seven months until the November general election.

Obamacare also reamed their asses, as did the Obama tax hikes (since we've all heard that canard that illegals pay income taxes blah blah blah), and as will the Obama military cuts.

I’ve never met the person - democrat or Republican- who wants a bunch of illegals flooding our shores. NOT ONE Person.

I see them on TV... I see them on the Sunday News shows. But in my real life I have never met ONE.

Any other freepers. Anyone met a person who wants a bunch of illegals here?

Nice going, Democrats. You managed to scare off your latino voting base while being forever tarred as the party of extortionists, murderers, felons and predators.

Americans will not forget that Democrats aided and abetted rampant crime and law-breaking:

<><> nativist illegals cashing multiple govt checks using stolen SS numbers,

<><> nativist illegals falsifying govt documents to get US benefits,

<><> nativist illegals not paying taxes on all of their income,

<><> nativist illegals using stolen SS numbers,

<><> nativist illegals using faked driver's licenses,

<><> nativist illegals receiving payment(s) from foreign entities,

<><> nativist illegals receiving payments from tax-exempt latino groups,

<><> nativist illegals listed as lobbyists for latino pressure groups,

<><> nativist illegals filing multiple EITC refund forms,

<><> nativist illegals fasifying EITC apps listing non-existent children,

<><> nativist illegals w/ rap sheets here, or in a foreign land,

<><> nativist illegals who are members of violent reconquista groups,

<><> nativist illegals actively undermining US ntl security.
